In this meditation,
You are invited to go on a journey into your past to meet your younger self when they were at the point of Menarche,
Your first bleed.
If at any time you find yourself becoming uncomfortable or triggered by something in your past,
Please take a pause and stop the meditation and come back to it at a later time when you feel safe within your body,
Within your space.
If you are ready to journey within to unearth and heal any menstrual shame you have,
Let's begin.
You have a comfortable position in a space where you won't be disturbed.
And if you would like to,
You can close your eyes at this time.
And becoming aware of the physicality of your body in this present moment,
Feeling the space that your body takes up,
Feeling the air on your skin,
Your clothes on your skin,
Feeling the connection you have to the seat you are on,
To the floor below you.
And coming into the awareness of the earth,
Feeling that connection of being supported by the earth,
Allowing your body to relax,
Allowing the weight of your body to give way to the support of the seat,
To the support of the floor,
To the support of the earth.
Knowing that you are safe in this present moment.
You are safe right here,
Right now in your body.
You are being supported by the energy of the earth.
When you feel you have embodied that sense of safety,
Allow the image of your younger self to come into your awareness at time in your life when you got your first period.
And allowing your younger self into your awareness,
Just taking in the image.
What clothes are they wearing?
How is their hair cut?
What accessories are they wearing?
Just taking in the full image of who they are in that moment.
And then noticing the space around them.
Where are they at?
At home,
Outside,
At school,
Taking in the whole scene around them.
All of the objects,
All of the colors.
Then becoming aware of what they are doing.
Is your younger self doing any hobbies,
Activities?
Are they with anybody in your awareness?
Or are they alone?
Taking in the full picture of your younger self.
And then taking a moment,
Coming back into the present moment,
Checking in again with your body.
This present moment,
Allowing your breath to draw you back into the present.
Gently checking in with your body.
Do you still feel safe in this place?
Do you still feel safe in your body?
And honoring anything that is coming to the surface.
If you are still feeling comfortable and safe in this place,
I invite you again to bring to your awareness your younger self.
And we're going to walk through the journey of them getting their first bleed.
If you can recall the moment of getting your first bleed,
Bring that to your awareness.
Taking in the scene,
What is around you,
Who is around you.
And if you can't quite remember the details,
Just see what floats up to the surface.
And connect in with the feeling.
How is your younger self feeling in this space?
I want you to open your ears.
Seeing what stories you are hearing around this time.
What was your younger self hearing around your menstruating body?
From your parents,
Your family.
From your friends.
From your teachers,
Your school.
From the media and society.
What are the stories that are very present in this moment?
And if you,
Your present day self,
Ask your younger self,
What do you need?
Allow your younger self to share with you what they need in that space of getting their first bleed.
And after hearing the needs,
The desires of your younger self,
Are you able to meet those needs for them now?
And if you're not able to meet them now,
Can you set an intention to move towards meeting those needs for them?
Is that okay?
And taking a moment coming back into your present self in the physicality of your body being what is present within your body right now.
Are there any physical sensations that are coming to you?
Are you still feeling safe within your body?
If you are still feeling safe and want to continue coming back in to that awareness of your younger self at the time of their first bleed.
And as a token of gratitude for your presence with your younger self for listening,
Hearing their story.
They have a gift for you.
You gratefully reach out your hands and receive the gift.
As you're holding this gift,
Take in its significance.
What have you been given by your younger self to carry with you in this present day?
Then you can take your time to say goodbye to your younger self.
Allow them to say goodbye to you as you part ways to continue on your journey.
And allowing your awareness to come back into the present,
Back into the physicality of your body and check in with your body one last time here.
How do you feel now?
What is present at the surface of you in this moment?
And feeling that safe,
Supportive place.
The support of the earth,
How it has held you through this journey.
The support of your body as it has held you.
And giving gratitude for what you have received.
And when you feel that your journey has been complete,
You can take one last deep inhale.
Allowing your awareness to come back to the surface.
Gently breathing your eyes open.
Coming back into the space around you.
And continue to journey on with the gift you have received today.
