All I ask in this meditation is that you take five minutes for you.
Five minutes of breathing in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
In through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
Productivity gurus like James Clear and David Allen have a two-minute rule for building a habit.
But these five minutes are not about productivity or getting things done or checking something off your list.
This is time for you to sit with yourself with mindfulness and with gratitude.
Breathing in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
Wiggle your jaw back and forth.
Roll your shoulders down your back.
Feel where you are in this moment.
And find one area of the body.
Where you can release some tension.
Continue to breathe in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
For these five minutes.
I invite you to imagine yourself in your favorite place.
Maybe it's at the beach,
Listening to the sound of the waves.
Maybe it's sitting amongst your friends,
Laughing,
Having a great time.
Maybe it's in front of a big plate of brownies.
Build a vision of that space in your mind.
As you continue to breathe in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
What does this place look like?
What does it sound like?
What can you hear?
What can you smell in this favorite place of yours?
Do you taste anything?
Finally,
What can you feel under your hands,
Maybe under your bare feet?
Sit and build this vision.
For the next minute or so.
You can always come back to this image.
To your breath.
Or to your meditation practice.
Even if you just need a one or two minute break.
We're going to wind down this five-minute practice.
And if you're ready to return,
Gently wiggle your toes,
Wiggle your fingers.
Gently open your eyes Thank yourself for taking this well-deserved time to feed your soul.
Until next time.
Thank you.
