Welcome to Making Meditation Mainstream 10-Minute Meditations.

My name is Katie and today's theme is about letting go,

Surrendering.

I'd like you to have just contemplate how many things in your life are you trying to control the outcome of or that you are placing an expectation whether that's of yourself,

Of somebody else,

Of how you expect something to go or be.

There's actually a really beautiful grace and simplicity when we're able to start to unattach to those expectations of hoping that we can control things and just surrendering and putting trust in the universe that things will be just as they're meant to be.

We're able to flow through life with much more grace and kindness.

As we move into today's meditation I'd like you to contemplate something that you've been maybe holding on to a little too tightly and see if you can just let go and trust.

So get settled in as we will now begin today's meditation sequence.

So take a moment now to settle in and relax.

Close your eyes.

Together let's take three breaths and on each exhale allow yourself to relax a little more and more.

Bring yourself into the present moment.

Allow the past to be the past and the future to be the future.

You are safe in this moment right now.

Place your attention on the top of your head and allow a deep sense of relaxation to cascade slowly down your face.

Feel your eyes become heavy.

Release your jaw.

Soften your mouth.

Allow your tongue to sit comfortably on the roof of your mouth.

Allow your shoulders to fall away from your neck,

Completely relaxing your arms,

Letting go of your belly,

Feeling your legs in your feet completely relaxed.

Now place your focus and awareness on your breath,

Watching the inhale and the exhale of the breath,

Just witnessing the rise and fall of your chest.

Should you have any thoughts or distractions,

Just simply acknowledging them,

Allowing them to drift slowly away and calmly before returning your attention back to the rise and fall of your chest.
