Welcome my friend.
Take a comfortable seat rooted to the earth.
We're gathering here under the sacred energy of the worm moon.
The full moon of March,
Named for the humble earthworms that stir and rise as the frozen ground thaws,
Signaling the end of winter and the promise of spring.
This worm moon arrives as a rare blood worm moon,
With a total lunar eclipse amplifying its power.
A cosmic moment where shadows reveal hidden truths,
Old patterns dissolve,
And new life births forth.
The worm moon evokes the first worms appearing on the surface as the soil softens,
Marking abundance,
The heralding of bountiful and diverse harvests.
Worms serve as a powerful reminder to renew and regenerate,
Discarding the old,
Regenerating what has been taken away or damaged.
They teach you to enrich your sacred ground and persevere through the squirming power of change,
Shifting steadily between the old and the new as we crawl towards inevitable transformation.
Even the smallest creatures make significant contributions to the cycle of life,
And so can you.
In our modern world,
We've sometimes become desensitized to these basic,
Earthy processes.
Yet worms work tirelessly underground and above,
Moving through the soil,
Contributing to the new mix of fertility.
March invites you to embody their stamina and endurance,
Navigating the pull of winter and the allure of spring,
Knowing life is about to burst forth.
Feel that in your body now.
Winter's long sleep is ending.
Beneath the surface,
Something in you has been quietly transforming,
Digesting old stories,
Healing wounds,
Shifting in the dark.
The worm moon and eclipse remind you growth often begins subtly,
With a softening,
A breaking through.
Now breathe with me.
Inhale slowly,
Feel the thawing earth and the stirring life beneath.
And exhale,
Release any heaviness carried through winter,
Habits,
Doubts,
Burdens.
Offer them to the cycle of renewal.
Now,
You can ask yourself,
What has been buried?
What truth is ready to surface?
What seeds of abundance,
New opportunities,
Healing,
Creativity are waiting to emerge?
Trust whatever arises.
You are participating in a beautiful cycle,
Rooted,
Patient,
Alive with possibility.
Now,
Let's honor this energy with a simple warm moon ritual of release,
Regeneration,
And planting abundance.
Feel free to come back to this practice after you've gathered all your materials.
The first thing will be a white candle.
It represents purity,
New light,
And awakening.
Next,
You'll get a small bowl of salt for purification and grounding.
Then,
A handful of soil,
Symbolizing fertile earth and the sacred ground worms enrich.
And a pen and paper.
Here are your instructions.
One,
Sit in a quiet place where you won't be disturbed,
Ideally outdoors under the moonlight if possible or near a window.
Facing the direction of the moon or east towards springs rising energies.
Light the white candle and place it in front of you.
As the flame steadies,
Invite the worm moon.
Sacred worm moon,
Herald of thawing earth and stirring light,
I call upon your gentle power of renewal and abundance.
As worms rise to enrich the soil,
May I awaken,
Regenerate,
And welcome bountiful harvest.
Step two,
Sprinkle some salt around the candle,
Forming a circle of protection and purification.
This grounds you in the earth's stability while creating sacred space.
You can say,
With this salt,
I honor the fertile ground and protect this moment of emergence.
Step three,
Take a piece of paper and write down any fears,
Worries,
Old patterns or burdens you've been carrying through winter.
Things that no longer serve your growth or the abundant life you're inviting.
Be honest and specific.
Then cross them out firmly as if canceling these thoughts and releasing them to the cycle of decay and rebirth.
You can reflect.
Worms teach you that what seems stuck or repugnant can become fertile soil.
I release what no longer nourishes me.
Step four,
Break or tear the paper into small pieces inside the bowl of soil and mix it around with your fingers.
Feel the earth absorb and transform what you've let go.
As you mix,
Visualize the pieces breaking down like old leaves,
Becoming rich nourishment for new life.
Whisper,
Into this sacred ground,
I surrender the old.
Through the quiet work of renewal,
May I regenerate into abundance.
Step five,
Hold the bowl in both hands,
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths,
Feeling the energy of the ritual surrounding you and protecting you.
Visualize a soft golden white light,
Like moonlight through the thawing soil,
Enveloping you.
Feel the endurance of the earthworm flowing in,
Persistent,
Humble,
Essential.
And affirm to yourself,
I embody the stamina of the worm,
Steady through change,
Enriching my path,
Contributing to life cycles.
I welcome transformation and the promise of bountiful harvests ahead.
Step six,
When you're ready,
Open your eyes,
Thank the warm moon and blow out the candle or let it burn to completion safely,
Sealing the energy.
Step seven,
Take the bowl of soil outside or to a pot or plant indoors and bury it in the earth,
Returning the transformed remnants into the ground.
If preferred and safe,
Burn the paper pieces first and bury the ashes instead.
As you cover it,
Imagine planting seeds of renewal,
New growth,
Healing or abundance.
Now carry this forward.
The worm moon shows you that true abundance flows from quiet,
Tireless work beneath the surface,
Discarding the old,
Regenerating what's damaged and enriching the ground for what's to come.
In March's thawing light,
Life bursts forth because of these humble cycles.
You are a part of that magic.
Blessed worm moon awakening to you,
My friend.
And so it is.
