So you might ask,
What is energy,
Or chi?
And over the millennia of history of Qigong,
Many have tried to put into words what this concept means to them.
Yet it remains elusive to this day.
The way I like to offer it sometimes or an aspect of energy or chi is a collection of all the processes of life that are happening within me and outside of me all the time.
So within my body it would be a collection of all the nerve impulses moving through,
All the biochemical reactions,
The metabolic processes,
The blood flowing,
The oxygen,
Moving through my system,
All of those things come in.
But even as I share this,
I feel that that definition is by no means complete.
And so my preference is to invite you to feel for yourself what qi or energy feels like to you.
And from that,
You might start to make your own definition.
So even as we're just standing here or sitting here,
You might just join me in this form of lift up,
Pour down.
Allowing the hands.
To move.
Up towards the sky,
Pointing the fingers to the sky at the top and then moving the arms down and at the bottom pointing the fingers to the earth.
Maybe inhaling as the arms come up.
Exhaling as the arms descend.
And notice what you feel.
What does it feel like?
As the arms move up.
Your body?
What does it feel like?
As the arms descend.
What do you feel through your whole system?
