Welcome.
This track is a part of my Sensing Acupoints series in which I introduce specific acupuncture points that are used in Qigong meditations to focus attention on.
My invitation with these practices is to receive the track through your whole being.
So receiving the information not just cognitively into your mind,
But allow it to wash through your whole body as a kind of meditation in and of itself.
The acupuncture point that I will share about today is called the Gate of Life or Ming Men in Chinese.
And it is located on the back in the center of the lumbar spine between the second and the third vertebra.
If you find your belly button now and place your other hand right opposite on your back,
Opposite the navel,
The belly button,
That is the location that is described by traditional Chinese medicine as the Gate of Life.
So go ahead and place your finger or the back of your hand in this area.
Begin to bring your awareness to it,
Knowing that the location of these acupuncture points can vary somewhat from person to person.
They are not something that can be observed in the same way that other anatomical features like protuberances on a bone can be felt and visualized and seen by the eyes.
So allow there to be a bit of mystery and ambiguity about the exact location of the point.
And once you become familiar with the sensations in the area,
Allow the body to intuitively guide you to where the Gate of Life is in your body,
Where you sense its energy and connection with it.
And if you'd like,
You can close your eyes,
Take some breaths,
Allow the breathing to be natural,
Focusing your attention on the Gate of Life.
Observe what it is like to let your body breathe from the awareness at the Gate of Life.
You may even begin to feel that you are inhaling and exhaling out of the Gate of Life point.
Welcome to use touch,
Keep your hand at the point or allow your arms to release and relax natural way.
Open to the sensations of energy at this acupuncture point.
Does the energy here feel warm,
Cool?
Do you begin to feel tired as you place your attention here?
Or do you perhaps begin to feel energized?
Do you experience the energy pooling here or maybe flowing smoothly?
Or maybe there is a turbulence or a vortex of energy that you begin to feel.
Is there a color that you associate with the sensations you are experiencing?
We'll share now what traditional Chinese medicine offers as the qualities of this acupuncture point of the Gate of Life.
Continue to maintain your awareness there,
Breathing naturally.
And the invitation is to receive this information that I will share through your own experience.
If it resonates,
Great.
But please also allow for your own experience to be different.
Knowing that we are all unique and also our experiences may change from day to day.
So if you come back tomorrow,
Place your awareness on the Gate of Life.
Look for tomorrow's experience to be different from today's.
The Gate of Life is the fourth acupoint on a meridian called the Governing Vessel.
This meridian runs up the back body from the tailbone to over the top of the head to the upper palate in the mouth.
And it is the main reservoir of yang energy in your body.
The Gate of Life being on this yang reservoir,
Chinese medicine offers that it's a very warming point.
It can regulate our body's temperature,
In particular bringing warmth to our body.
It has a strong relationship with the kidneys,
Which house our vital essence according to Chinese medicine.
So as such,
The Gate of Life is said to be able to reconnect us to our vitality,
Our will,
And our drive,
And our purpose in life,
Our ability to live fully from our truth.
This point in Qigong is utilized frequently to absorb energy from nature into our bodies.
It's a gateway for the chi from nature to flow into our bodies.
Feel into how this information is landing with you,
What is resonating and what is not,
Remaining true to your own experience of the Gate of Life.
Welcome to remain within the space of this somatic exploration for as long as you wish.
If you're ready to complete it now,
Become aware of your body as a whole,
Feeling your skin,
Gently opening the eyes if the eyes were closed,
Re-anchoring yourself in the space you are in.
Thank you for your practice today.
You can come back to this track again and again,
Or simply repeat the meditation on your own,
Thus cultivating your awareness of the Gate of Life acupuncture point.
I invite you to experience one of my follow-up meditations that uses the Gate of Life in the visualization process.
Wishing you a beautiful day.
May your energy be nourished.
Namaste.
