This talk is for anyone who's going through tough times. What if you could get through whatever it is you're going through right now? Remind yourself of your past challenges, and all you went through. You got through it, otherwise you wouldn't be here right now. Reach out for the support you need. Don't be afraid to ask and keep asking for help when you need it. Because your life matters, you matter. Always remember that.

Hello and welcome to this talk.

This talk is on getting through hard times.

My name is Maria Lambie and I want you to know that whatever you're going through right now,

However challenging it might be,

However alone you might be feeling,

You can get through this.

I'd like you to think back to a time,

One of your biggest challenges in the past,

That's over now.

Think back to how that was for you at the time maybe you couldn't see any light at the end of the tunnel and yet here you are,

Right here,

Right now,

Listening to this talk.

You've bounced back from all the hurdles,

All the challenges that you've faced in the past and here you are going through another big challenge.

Right now you might be feeling like you can't get through it,

You might be feeling hopeless,

Lost,

Confused,

Overwhelmed and however you're feeling right now consider acknowledging your feelings and knowing that there's nothing wrong with how you're feeling.

However you're feeling is a part of who you are right now in this moment.

And know that with this tough time that you're facing right now and any tough times in the future that you might be facing,

Take a moment to look back and reflect on all the tough times that you faced in the past and you got through them in whatever shape or form you did,

Otherwise you wouldn't be here right now.

And know that if you got through whatever you got through in the past,

You can get through whatever you're going through in the present.

It may be difficult to get through it on your own,

You may need to reach out for support.

Do that,

Reach out,

Ask for support even if you think the answer will be no.

It's worth asking for help when you need it.

If the answer is no,

Ask again or ask someone else.

Keep asking to get the support that you need because your life matters,

You matter.

You may not feel like you do,

But you do.

You may not feel supported,

But you are.

You may not feel loved or cared for,

But you are.

Acknowledging that sometimes people don't show very clearly how they feel,

Very clearly how they feel or how they love or how they care,

But it doesn't mean that they don't feel or love or care.

It's not fair,

It's not nice,

It may just be how it is.

You can find it in your heart,

In your soul to believe that you can get through whatever it is you're going through as hard as it is for you right now,

As hard as it's been leading up to right now.

And if you ever doubt that,

If you ever lose hope,

Please remember all of the challenges,

All of the hurdles that you got through in the past and know how far you've come to get to where you are now.

Acknowledge all that you've been through,

All the pain,

All the growing pains it's brought you to where you are now.

And may that invite some inkling of hope for you right now,

Because you matter,

Your life matters and always remember that.
