Transcript

One hot summer night,

Someone saw Mulla Nasruddin bent on his knees searching for something on the street under a lamppost.

What have you lost,

Mulla?

Asked an inquisitive man.

I lost my key,

Said the Mulla.

So they both went down on their knees to resume the search.

An hour later,

There were ten people looking for the elusive key.

Suddenly someone asked,

Mulla,

Do you remember where did you drop it?

In my own room,

Said Nasruddin unaffectedly.

Darn it,

Then why are we looking here,

Said one of the volunteers.

Nasruddin explained calmly,

Since I ran out of candles,

There is no light in my room,

So I came here under the lamppost.
