Today's meditation is a perfect early morning or awakening meditation for first thing in the day.
My name is Lucy Stone and this is Meditation Rocks.
So first thing in the morning can be a really great time to practice meditation for you to set an intention for your day or just take a way to ease into your day in a more mindful way.
So go and get yourself somewhere comfortable and we can begin.
Now you may choose if there's a sunrise for you to watch to keep your eyes open or as always you might prefer to have your eyes closed or to soften your gaze down on a fixed point.
So just take a moment to stretch out any tension that might have stored up overnight to find balance across the left hand right hand side of your body and to bring your feet down onto the floor flat if you're in a chair.
And take a moment just to let any sounds of life around you begin to fade into the background.
Any distractions.
And if you have thoughts on your mind already then just park them for just a few more minutes before you begin your day.
And taking a few moments now just to connect inwards with your breath.
And in the morning I like to take just some nice energising breaths.
So really filling the lungs as you breathe in pausing for a moment before fully exhaling through the mouth powerfully feeling that sense of energy and release.
And let's take three really energetic breaths where we breathe in through the nose and powerfully exhale through the mouth releasing that energy into the body.
Taking just a couple more breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth.
And now closing your mouth and beginning to breathe in and out through the nose.
And this is our Yuzha-I breath.
And just taking a moment to breathe in and out through the nose.
And with every breath just allowing yourself to awake a little more.
And if you are watching the sunrise then just allow your eyes to be absorbed by the colours and the light that is changing in front of you.
And if not then just bring a little orange light to that point between the eyebrows.
And you can try and look up inside the mind to focus on this little orange light.
And this orange light will symbolise the sunrise in your mind.
And with every breath that you take allow this sunrise to get a little bigger for the light to evolve and change.
And until over a few moments allow this orange light to fill your mind's eye.
I'd like you to focus on this orange glow that you have created.
And now imagine that you can breathe in this sunrise to fill your whole body.
With every exhale allow the warmth and light and the promise of another day to fill your body.
So really taking time to soak up this light,
This sunrise,
Feeling its warmth.
Soothing your body and your mind as you begin to wake a little more and ease into your day.
And you might like to say,
I am here in this moment.
As the sun rises,
I am ready for this day.
I am grateful for this day.
Just focus on your breath for the next few moments.
And every time you exhale imagine you are waking a little more.
Rising with the sun at the start of another day.
I am here in this moment.
As the sun rises.
I am ready for this day.
I am grateful for this day.
Focusing on the orange light within.
Maybe you can feel that this orange light is now surrounding your body.
Taking this warmth,
This energy and this gratitude with you into your day.
And we will breathe three times together so powerfully.
Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Exhale,
Release.
Two more,
Breathe in through your nose.
Exhale powerfully,
Release.
One last time,
Deep breath in.
And release.
And now just breathing in a comfortable way for you.
Beginning to find any little movements,
Stretches,
Wiggling fingers and toes.
And bring your hands together and give them a little bit of a rub.
Create some warmth and some heat.
And hovering the hands over your eyes.
Blinking your eyes open inside your hands when you are ready.
And bring your hands down away from your face.
And you are ready for your day.
