Welcome to this meditation to prepare you for surgery.
I invite you to get into a comfortable lying down position.
Feet flopping out to the side.
Posture balanced.
Feel into the space around and beneath you.
Sait your body to melt and soften.
Sense the whole shape and volume of the body.
Allow the earth to support you.
Begin to become aware of the breath.
Let the breath flow in through the nostrils,
Down into the lungs.
Notice your eyes and the space between your eyes.
Notice the muscles in your neck and back.
Let them relax.
Feel soothing relaxation run down your back.
Inhale and notice the muscles on your right arm.
Exhale.
Let them relax.
Inhale and feel the muscles of your left arm.
Let them relax.
With every breath in,
Inhale and notice your body drift down deeper into total relaxation.
Let your muscles go.
Bring your attention to your chest.
On your inhale,
Feel your chest rising.
And on your exhale,
Feel your chest relaxing.
Inhale,
Bring your attention to your abdomen.
Feel the abdomen expand.
With the exhale,
Feel your abdomen relaxing and releasing.
Inhale,
Bring your awareness to your hips,
Buttocks,
And thighs.
Exhale,
Release tension.
Inhale,
Notice your knees,
Calves,
And ankles.
Exhale,
Feel the muscles of the legs relax.
All the muscles in your body relax and let go.
Now I invite you to picture a beautiful and peaceful place.
Visualize a place where you are safe and happy.
Take time and notice every detail of this special place.
Notice the colors,
The scents,
And the sounds.
Now imagine a staircase that will lead you to your special safe place.
The staircase has 10 steps.
You're going to walk down the steps.
And with each of the steps you take,
Feel your body relaxing even more.
I will count down from 10 as you walk down the steps and sink deeper into relaxation.

Relax even deeper.

7,
Even deeper.
6,
5,
4,
More and more relaxed.

2,
1,
Deeper and deeper relaxed.
The deeper you go,
The better you will feel.
Let us go deeper still.

Let yourself drift and float.
Imagine yourself in your special safe place.
Can you feel it?
You are alone.
There is no one here to disturb you.
Enjoy your special safe place.
This is the most relaxing place for you.
Imagine yourself in your special safe place and notice a sense of well-being.
Know that even though you cannot see your family and closest friends,
They are with you.
Your pets and spirit guides are with you too.
Feel their energy,
Support,
And love.
It is blanketing you while you are alone in your special place.
Notice these positive feelings and know you can carry these feelings with you as you continue on.
As you relax deeper and deeper,
Imagine yourself going into a deep healing sleep.
Picture a healing place.
It can be your special safe place or a new space,
Whichever you choose.
As you drift into a deep healing sleep,
You drift into the most deep sleep you have ever experienced.
You sleep sound,
Deep,
And restful.
As you sleep,
All is in proper order.
All is well.
All is taken care of.
There is nothing for you to do.
Picture your doctors and surgeons,
The anesthesiologist,
And your nurses.
They are all highly competent.
They are in charge.
They take great care of you.
They watch and protect you.
There is nothing for you to do.
Relax.
Know that you are being cared for.
All is as it should be.
All is as it should be.
During your surgery,
A beautiful light is surrounding you,
Watching over you,
Protecting you.
The light is part of your healing process.
The light will be with you as you heal and as you move to attain optimal health.
Your power for healing is activated and regulates your body every step of the way.
Every part of the surgery moves along easily and effortlessly.
You and your body cooperate with the doctors and nurses.
Everything moves with ease.
Upon successfully completing your surgery,
You continue to heal.
You heal very quickly.
When you wake from your deep healing sleep,
You feel comfortable.
You feel good.
It feels as if only a few moments have passed.
Now imagine your doctors and surgeons.
See them in your mind's eye.
Picture them telling you,
You are whole,
Healthy,
And strong.
You are whole,
Healthy,
And strong.
See yourself smiling.
Happy,
Healthy,
And strong.
You are happy,
Healthy,
And strong.
As you awake and regain total consciousness,
You will feel comfortable and relaxed.
You will feel comfortable and as if only a few moments have passed.
Enjoy this state before I count you back into consciousness.
I will count you back into consciousness starting at 1 and ending at 10.
When you come back,
You will feel alert,
Refreshed,
And relaxed.
Begin to come back now.
