You are most welcome here.
I invite you to begin by bringing your attention to your breath.
You don't need to change its rhythm,
Only notice it,
The in-breath and the out-breath.
Every in-breath bringing you oxygen,
Nourishment from the trees and plants,
From the earth.
Allow this nourishment into your body,
Your being,
And trust that it will find where it's needed,
Some part of your body that needs to shift,
A bit of tension that needs to be released,
A place where there could be a little more space.
You can just smile at any ideas about controlling or directing it,
Just trust that your breath knows its way in your body.
Relax and allow it,
And sense your out-breath,
The exhale,
What's no longer needed,
Off it goes.
You don't need to know what it is,
You don't need to see it or judge it,
Only trust that it's completed its purpose and let it go,
Back to the plants and trees,
Back to the stars.
As you settle into this space,
Feel yourself surrendering to gravity,
The gravity that holds you here on the earth.
Feel where your feet or your bottom is in contact with the floor or chair.
Find that fine,
Thin surface of contact.
Feel for the sensation of the contact between you and the earth.
Let it remind you that you are part of the earth.
You are water and minerals,
Dirt and roots.
You carry primordial cells.
You are of the earth.
You are here,
And you belong here.
And now,
Where you are standing or sitting,
Feel gradually upward from that connection at your base,
Feeling up your spine,
Sensing one vertebrae at a time.
Take your time here,
Go slowly,
Sense each vertebra above the next and the space in between them.
Up past your hip bones,
Past the lower back and the kidneys,
Up,
Getting smaller,
Up between your shoulder blades,
All the way up your neck to the base of your skull.
And then feeling to the top of your skull,
Your point of connection with the heavens.
Feel for this fine,
Thin layer that connects you to the air,
The sky,
The stars,
And the mysteries beyond.
Feel your connection with the sky,
The heavens,
And know that you are part of it.
Just as you are part of the earth,
You are part of the heavens.
You are stardust and breath,
Radiance and mystery.
And you are here,
And you belong here.
Feel yourself here,
Connected to earth,
Connected to the heavens.
Such radiance and beauty.
And you,
Beautiful,
Amazing you,
You are a parent.
You have been given this almost incomprehensible blessing to raise,
Teach,
And oversee the growth of a new human.
You were chosen.
You were chosen because you are the right parent for this child.
Yes,
There are times when you are uncertain,
When you are tired,
Confused,
When you feel like you're not doing it right.
Rest assured,
Dear one,
The confusion and exhaustion are part of your parenting path,
Integral parts of your human journey.
You are the right parent for this child.
In your belly are all the instincts you need to be in right relationship with them.
A deep knowing of how the two of you can learn from each other,
How you can interact with each other.
Breathing into your belly,
Visualize the oxygen supporting you,
Creating space for your inner teacher,
Your intuition,
Your parenting instincts.
See it there within you,
Breathing in,
Seeing in your belly.
Take note of its temperature or viscosity or color.
Breathing into your belly,
Your parenting instincts,
What images come to you?
Wait.
Allow it to show you the strength and reliability of your parenting instincts.
Breathe and wait.
Open and wait.
It's all right here within you.
It's all part of you.
You are the right parent for this child.
In your heart,
In your heart is the perfect kind of love for this child.
Breathe into your chest now gently,
Gently.
Allow a slight opening here.
Breathe into your heart space a little and then be still.
Take in what's around you,
What's there in your heart space.
What color do you see?
What's the texture?
As you sense the interior of your heart space,
Trust whatever images come to you.
Just receive.
Open.
And with your heart open like this,
New breath coming in,
New blood pumping through.
Here lies all the love that is needed in your relationship with your child.
It is vibrant and wild and changing,
Breath by breath,
Month by month,
As you grow and your child grows,
As your relationship evolves.
You carry it all within you.
The love and tools and wisdom for supporting this young person.
And with every breath,
In and out,
You are supported in your parenting.
You are held tenderly by the earth,
By the sky,
By the universe,
By the great heart.
Because you are the parent of this child,
The right parent.
And it's not by chance.
It's a gift that you've received.
A challenge that you are worthy of.
A path of ever expanding love that you are involved in.
The love that you are invited to walk.
You are this child's parent.
It's no mistake.
This path was made for you.
You are their parent.
It is so.
Feeling breath moving through you.
Sensing how you are nourished and supported.
Trusting the role you've been given.
Beautiful.
And now,
Giving thanks in your own way.
To your belly,
Your heart,
Your spine.
In whatever way you can.
To your heart.
To your soul.
To your body.
To your mind.
In whatever way that feels right to you.
A deep bow to the earth and the sky.
That are always holding you.
Then you will begin to very slowly,
Very slowly,
Make your way back.
Not yet.
Take a few moments here to feel your breath.
Take a moment to remember the images,
The impressions that came to you.
And now,
Just wiggle a couple of your fingers.
Touch them to each other.
Another few gentle breaths.
There's lots of time.
And as you make your way back into this room,
Maybe rub your hands together.
Rub them on your thighs.
Sway your hips a little.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Maybe just halfway.
Take your time.
Move a little more.
And then open your eyes fully and take in the space around you.
Stretch.
Now I invite you to raise your hands slowly up from your sides.
Up above your head.
And bring your hands together in prayer.
Bring them down just a bit,
Touching them lightly to the top of your head.
And bringing them slowly down in front of your face.
And then in front of your heart.
One more deep cleansing breath here.
And then release your hands.
And prepare to move into the rest of your day.
