Welcome.
Allow your body to settle now.
Allow gravity to pull you toward the center of the earth.
Feel for where the soles of your feet contact the floor,
Where your legs and your butt contact the seat of your chair.
Feel how your back is supported.
Feel yourself here,
In contact with the physical,
This exact space.
Use your breath to connect you,
All of you,
With this moment.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Let your breath be your guide,
Bringing new oxygen to every cell of your body,
To your blood as it pumps through your organs,
To your bones that hold your structure.
Landing a little bit more with each breath,
Coming down from your busy mind into your body,
Feeling you,
You being here,
In your body and in your mind's eye.
Let's take a walk,
One foot in front of the other,
Down your street and out into the wilds.
The path beckons to you and there you go,
Passing trees and hills and streams and flowers.
One foot in front of the other,
Down the path,
Breathing in the smells,
Taking in the sounds.
And after a while of walking,
You find yourself looking out over a field.
Your mind might want to jump in right now with an image,
But wait a moment,
Wait.
Let your heart take you there.
Sit,
Breathe and let your heart find your place.
And now in this field,
In this comfortable spot,
Allow yourself to settle.
Sitting down maybe on the soft,
Warm earth or a log,
Laying down,
Look out over the field and notice the grasses swaying,
Notice the aromas and colors,
The wonders of the natural world all around you.
And now in this comfortable spot,
Let's call the spirits of the four directions,
Acknowledging the beauty and wisdom of the land,
The sacredness of air,
Fire,
Water and earth.
Welcome,
Welcome.
Calling in the energy of the seasons,
Spring,
Summer,
Autumn,
Winter,
The cycles of our lives,
The cycles we live.
Calling in your ancestors,
Your guides and angels,
Your totem animals,
Your connection with the oneness,
Welcome.
Rest here for a while,
Dear one.
You are in good company and you are surrounded by love.
You are surrounded by love and you are love.
And you have been given a very special kind of love to share,
The love of a parent for their child,
A love that goes on and on and on and on,
From first steps to first bicycles to first cars,
Oh so many moments of loving and learning together.
Feel it deeply,
Laughter,
Tears,
Anger,
Disappointment,
Fun,
Forgiveness,
All of it,
Breathe it in.
And as you exhale,
Feel the truth and ease in your body for all the love that has been given to your child who is now approaching adulthood.
And now,
Look out across the field and know that they are over there,
Maybe just a little beyond where you can see right now,
But they are there.
They are shining their beautiful light.
They are sharing love with people you never even imagined would come into their lives.
They're expressing their passion in ways you never envisioned.
This unique young adult,
Living and learning and loving.
They're just over there.
Breathe into your chest.
Breathe in oxygen from the four directions.
Let it surround your heart.
Let it open little spaces around your heart and fuel your parent's love there.
Breathing in and feeling it growing.
Feeling it expanding and then send it outward,
A pulse out from your chest,
Out surrounding your body.
And then out across the field,
Out to your beloved child,
Wherever they are,
Whatever they're experiencing right now.
A pulse of your pure love.
See this pulse approaching them.
Maybe it's a shared memory.
Maybe they see a butterfly or just feel a warm knowing.
Picture them recognizing the love from you.
Picture their face,
Their body,
Their heart taking it in,
Taking in your bright love.
Now see it expanding,
Expanding in their hearts.
Their hearts growing,
Love glowing all around them as they radiate their love into the world.
See them shining so brightly.
See them shining and notice the special rays of their love that are for you.
Open to receive that love.
No doubts,
No judgments,
Just a willingness to receive.
Open space in your heart to their love coming back toward you across the field.
However it appears,
Trust it,
Sense it,
Accept it.
Receive gracefully and gratefully.
This is the love between a parent and child.
So powerful,
Even after they're too big for your lap,
Even after they're gone from your kitchen table,
Even when they're across the field.
Breathing again into your chest.
Allowing love to expand in your heart.
And when you're ready,
Pulsing that across the field to your child.
Love travels across the field,
Across all times and spaces.
Feel their love coming back towards you and know this truth.
The love between you and your child pulses in the world.
It is carried by air,
Fire,
Water and earth.
By imperceptible breezes,
Little streams.
It's carried under the wings of the birds,
In the fur of animals,
On specks of pollen,
Along roots and stratum of bedrock.
Your love for your child and their love for you flow in nature.
Feel this truth in your heart.
This is the truth of parenting.
Tuck it in your heart.
Tuck it into your ribcage.
Tuck it into your belly and your spine.
This deep knowing that your love flows.
See it settling there within you.
Beautiful.
And now before you come back,
A moment of gratitude for the spirits and beings and the wisdom of the earth and the sky.
Gratitude for life.
Gratitude for light and love that we are all a part of.
And as you prepare to leave this spot by the field,
I invite you to just gently move your body.
Just touch the ends of your fingers and begin to move yourself back down that path.
In your heart light and full,
Back down that path and back to your room.
Go slowly this time.
Some deep cleansing breaths.
Begin to touch your arms or your legs,
Just slowly.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes and slowly take in the room again around you.
Knowing that love is with you always.
And your love is always with your child.
No matter how big and grown up they are.
The love of a parent goes on and on and on.
And so I send you bright blessings,
Dear parent,
As you step into the rest of your day.
