Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott and I'm pausing beside a holly tree that is resplendent in red holly berries.

This time of year is a time when I often go out exploring and just checking where the holly trees are and whether they've got berries and knowing that between now and Christmas which is when I'd like to actually pick the buried holly the birds might come in and eat the berries and there'll be nothing left but just at this time of year I go and just kind of clock where those holly trees are and so I'll come back later in the year in December and see whether the berries are still here and if they're not I don't really mind because I know that they will have fed birds and that's exactly what these berries are really for is to feed the birds and the animals at this time of year.

And today is just a reflection on learning really.

I've spent the day reflecting on a course that I'm about to put up on Insight Timer and that course has been inspired by a 30-day experiment about living from a place of love rather than fear and you can follow that experiment.

I've published some tracks each of them called Love Not Fear and they've given a number 1 to 30 so you can follow my progress each and every day of that experiment and I've been reflecting on the experiment as I've been creating the course really feeling extraordinary gratitude at what I've learned.

I guess it's a bit like this holly tree and the berries that might feed the birds sometime soon.

The course has been giving me nourishment as I remember what I learned during my 30-day experiment.

One of the things I've learned is that in bringing my awareness back to love and when I talk about love I'm not talking about romantic love I'm talking about that real settled space that for me turns up as peace of mind,

Gratitude,

Compassion,

Wisdom and that feeling of contentment and love.

When I bring my awareness back to love to those feelings then I notice things it's almost like the universe every day is providing me with lessons to learn.

Unique lessons exactly right for me in my learning and my hunch is that if you also engage with bringing your awareness back to love rather than getting lost in fear you too will see lessons that are perfect for you and when I talk about fear I'm not talking about that kind of scared fear you might feel if you just read a ghost story or you're going out late at night.

I'm talking about fear as unsettled feelings and they turn up for me like frustration or overwhelm or judgment or a sense of I'm not being good enough and so the way that the experiment has worked is when I've noticed those unsettled feelings I've brought my awareness back to a settled space within me and sometimes from that settled space I have a real sense of learning of seeing something afresh and other times from that settled space I've just got an awareness that as long as I don't feed those angry frustrated unsettled fearful thoughts just as long as I'm not feeding them with my attention there will be something for me to learn albeit not maybe immediately.

So today my request is that you look to the really simple small things that life is trying to teach you and that's what I'm reflecting on today.

Is there a lesson for me to learn every day and yet most of the time because I'm not bringing my awareness to love to that settled space to that place of wisdom because I don't intentionally bring my awareness back there I miss the lesson that is there for me to see.

And a bit like this holly tree I was intentionally looking out for a holly tree with berries on and because I'm looking out for it I spot it whereas if I wasn't looking out for it I would just walk on by and I wouldn't even notice it.

So my request today is that you experiment with bringing your awareness to love to that settled place of wisdom within you and just see what you notice there will be gifts for you to see and if you feel like you'd like to go on a 30-day experiment then why not join the experiment.

Each of them is labeled love not fear and there'll be zero one love not fear which is day one zero two love not fear which is day two and so on.

So it's easy to find and you too can set up a daily practice for yourself where you live from a place of love and not fear and see what you learn for yourself.
