Our minds often conjure stories that sweep us into unnecessary drama. By examining where these dramatic narratives originate, we can gain insight into our conditioned thought patterns. Rather than beating up on ourselves, we can respond with understanding and love as we shift to more supportive perspectives. As we see through the illusion of drama, we can focus on serving our highest good with clarity and peace. This meditation offers a chance to reflect, gain self-awareness, and approach life’s challenges from a place of self-love.

Welcome.

My name is Lisa and I'm really glad you're here.

In this meditation we're going to spend a little time detaching from unnecessary drama.

A drama-free life it might not be attainable 24-7 but my intention for this meditation is that it's something that you can come back to when you have anything going on in your life that you'd like to let go of.

So let's get started and find a comfortable position.

You can be sitting up,

You could be lying down,

Whatever feels good for you and I invite you to either close your eyes or maybe just soften your gaze.

Maybe you have heavy eyelids and you're looking downward at the floor.

Let's take a nice deep breath in and exhale through the mouth and we'll do that again.

Nice deep inhale through the nose,

Exhale through the mouth and one last time deep inhale through the nose,

Long slow exhale through the mouth.

Nice and just resume whatever breathing feels good for you and allow yourself to be here right now.

In this meditation let's touch our right ear to our right shoulder and switch it the other way.

Left ear to the left shoulder,

Come back to center,

Resituate yourself.

Nice nice deep breath in,

Long slow exhale.

Wonderful.

Unnecessary drama arises when we turn small issues into much bigger or even significant problems.

We also know that sometimes we don't realize that we're creating drama for ourselves because the story that our mind is telling us,

It seems and it feels really really real.

But that's the thing,

It's just a story.

We create drama from conditioning and trying to control people we create drama from conditioning and trying to control people or outcomes or situations.

We all do it but let's take this time in this meditation to reflect on how or where you might have a tendency or even a habit to get swept up in the stories that your mind is telling you about someone or something.

And let's bring that area of your life,

That someone,

That something,

That story to mind.

It could be a person,

Like a partner or a child or a family member.

It could be stories about someone at work or a situation at work or school.

Maybe it's someplace you do volunteer work or a place you like to hang out online or something else entirely different.

There are so many sources of drama that you might encounter of drama that you might encounter in your life.

So think about the story.

Where do you think this story comes from?

And what might be behind it?

Meaning,

Is the story coming from fear or uncertainty or even lack or scarcity?

Take a moment and listen for your answer.

Where this story comes from?

And what do you think this story causes or costs you?

Meaning,

What is the result when you get swept up by this story?

Does the story cause you stress or anxiety?

Does it cause you worry and pressure?

Maybe it's fear.

And do you tend to take a lot of action to prevent the imaginary result from coming true?

Do you do a lot of things,

Take a lot of action to control the outcome?

Notice how this story affects your thoughts and your feelings and your actions.

Now we know this story might be a default story that your mind is offering you.

So let's be intentional now and shift your story to one that serves you.

So let's take a moment to think about the story that you're going to share with me today.

And shift your story to one that serves you.

So reframe the story that's in your mind to one that supports your growth or your expansion or positive action or even just to feel better.

Remember,

You have the power to interpret events and situations,

People,

Circumstances,

Any way you choose,

Any way you want.

So choosing empowering perspectives is a way to reframe this story so that you feel better.

And I invite you to think about the story in a way that you want to tell it.

It can be anything you want.

But I invite you to choose something that feels good,

That's supportive,

That's loving.

If that's hard,

Consider adding the words,

It's possible that before the story.

This opens the door enough to let you get your foot in.

Believing that things could be different,

That a person could be different,

A circumstance could be different,

Might be hard and that's okay.

The words it's possible that or even just the word maybe before what you want to think can be a really nice way to at least turn yourself in a direction that serves you more than it depletes you.

Tap into the story you want to tell one more time.

Beautiful.

Now I invite you to give yourself some love.

You have a human brain and it's very powerful and in some areas of your life it's really got your number.

It knows your soft spots and it knows how to manipulate you to meet its directive,

Which is simply to keep you alive.

If you're having some insights during this meditation,

You know you can beat yourself up and shame yourself or you can say,

Ah I get it,

I understand what's been going on,

It's okay,

I've got my own back.

And lastly,

I invite you to notice the stories that the people around you have created.

Maybe it's a friend who lacks self-confidence.

What is the story they tell to themselves?

Or a boss who has no self-confidence.

Lack self-confidence.

What is the story they tell to themselves?

Or a boss who it seems like always has to be in control.

Or maybe a child who excels at something but refuses to put themselves out there because they're afraid of failure.

Remember,

Their brains also produce dramatic narratives.

So let's take a moment to see them in your mind.

See them feeling the way that you've felt.

Worrying or stressing or having a lot of emotions or doubt or taking a lot of action to change an outcome or control an outcome.

See them doing that just like you have and send them some love.

We're all messy humans and we're all doing the best we can with what we've got and what we know.

As we come to the end of this meditation,

I invite you to take a deep breath and release any remaining tension that you have.

Let it all go.

And put your hand on your heart.

And take a moment to think about the things that you've done in the past.

Take a moment to express gratitude for this practice and for your commitment to showing up for yourself.

So you can in turn show up in the world as free of drama as possible.

And when you're ready,

You can gently open your eyes and carry this clarity and peace and new story with you into the upcoming week,

The upcoming days,

And onward.

And remember that you can come back to this meditation and practice anytime.

Well done,

My friend.

Take good care.
