Good morning everyone,
And welcome to your morning meditation.
Whether you positively sprang out of bed this morning,
Or if you're still wiping the sleep from your eyes,
We're taking this time now to give ourselves the best possible chance at an amazing day ahead.
Take these first few moments just to settle.
You can be lying down or sitting upright with your spine long.
Whatever you choose,
Make it the comfiest possible variation of that position.
Close down your eyes.
Begin to notice your breath.
Observe the rise with the inhale,
And the fall with the exhale.
Let the breath be easy.
Just allow it to flow.
As things continue to settle,
Notice what's happening in the mind.
Are there any strong emotions present?
How busy is the mind?
Are there any particular thoughts or feelings that repeatedly come up?
What do these thoughts or feelings say about your current state?
How might they affect the day ahead?
Come back to the sensation of breath in the body.
Gently now,
Work toward lengthening the breath.
A longer inhale flowing into a longer exhale.
Continue to allow the breath to be effortless and light.
With every breath in,
Imagine that you are creating space in the body.
Every breath out,
Soften into that space.
Breathing in to open.
Breathing out to release.
Just let it flow.
Inhale open.
Exhale release.
Sinking deeper and deeper with every exhale.
Feeling the sense of total relaxation pervade all the muscles of the body.
Let it go.
Let this sense of relaxation and ease in the body take you even deeper.
What if you didn't have to work quite so hard?
In this state of relaxation,
Call to mind someone or something you are grateful for.
Make it really clear in your mind's eye.
Really feel the emotion in your body.
What else are you grateful for?
What else?
These don't have to be things that are monumental.
Could simply be something like the time you've taken for this meditation.
What else are you grateful for?
What else?
Let this feeling of gratitude build.
For all things big and small.
Embracing gratitude doesn't mean the hard things in life aren't still hard.
It is an acknowledgement that there can be light as well as shade.
Now set a goal for the day to come.
This is something actionable.
Something that is measurable.
Something that you'll definitely be able to say,
I completed that by the time your head hits the pillow tonight.
Make it something attainable,
Whilst requiring a little bit of effort.
Set your goal now.
Make it really clear in your mind's eye.
Believe in your capacity to achieve this goal.
Finally,
Set an intention for the day to come.
This is less about what you do or accomplish in a day,
And more about the kind of person that you wish to be.
How you wish to move through the world.
This can be a kind of North Star that informs the actions that you'll consciously and eventually subconsciously take.
Set your intention now.
Trust in your ability to embody this intention.
Gradually,
Start to deepen your breath.
Imagine your energy building and intensifying.
Feel your body in space.
All it's capable of.
All it's done.
All that it will do.
Start to bring some movement to your fingers and toes.
Ease your head from side to side.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Remind yourself frequently of your goal and your intention as you go about your day.
For bonus points,
Make a note of your goal and intention on a piece of paper or on your phone notes.
Wishing you an amazing day ahead,
And thank you so much for listening.
