Take time to wash away the cares of the day and become fully rested and relaxed before bed. As you listen to the refreshing sound of the river and the calming flute you are guided through a process of processing the day’s events so you can let it all go and gently drift off to sleep. The music continues and quietly fades out so you can nod off. Music is"River Flute" Kevin MacLeod | Licensed under Creative Commons | Photography by Linda Holman 2022.

Take a moment to settle in.

It's the end of the day and time to rest.

Find a comfortable position that will help you relax.

Make any small adjustments you need to,

To make sure you feel cozy and warm.

Take three long,

Deep,

Belly breaths.

As you listen to the sounds of the river,

Feel the events of the day start to loosen their hold on you.

Feel them slowly move out of your thoughts and into your arms and legs.

As the river runs along,

Feel the events of the day flow out from your fingers and toes.

If there is a particular memory of the day that brings you joy or makes you feel good in any way,

Hold it in your thoughts for a moment,

Feel grateful for it and let it flow away down the river.

If there are memories that aren't so positive from the day,

Let them go too.

Feel that grip on your belly dissolve as the muscles relax.

If someone spoke harshly to you,

Then try to forgive them,

Even if they don't deserve it,

Probably especially if they don't deserve it.

It's not saying that what they did is okay,

But it's saying that you refuse to let it continue to upset your apple cart.

Let their words wash away.

If you think you were the one who said or did something wrong,

Then make a mental note to make amends tomorrow.

Try and find the lesson in it and then let it go.

Forgive yourself.

Let's take some more deep breaths.

Allow your breath to return to normal and see if you can become so still you feel your pulse subtly moving your body with each heartbeat.

Give thanks for the day even if it wasn't a great day and let it all wash away.

Tomorrow the sun will come up and we all get a clean slate to start afresh.

But for now it's time to rest,

To wallow in the waters of a good day's work done and dusted,

To feel the doingness wash away,

To feel the beingness bubble up.

There's nothing to do now except rest.

With each exhale feel stress flow out of you.

With each inhale feel peace fill you up.

Ever think about the types of dreams you would like to experience.

Even if you don't remember them it can be good to tell your subconscious that you'd like to fly or hug a loved one or run with lions across a great plain.

It's time to rest now,

To recharge and repair.

If you're already in bed then I wish you a good night and if you've got some things to do before bed then I hope you can keep this calm state of relaxation as you go about your night time routine.

Thank you for sharing this time with me.

Good night.

Good night.

Good night.

Good night.

Good night.

Good night.

Good night.

Good night.

Lovely and calming! And thank you for taking the time to fade out the ending and not just cutting it off abruptly. It makes for a much more peaceful end to the practice. 💕
