Take a moment to settle in.

You can do this meditation sitting up or lying down whichever is more comfortable for you.

You might want to have a pen and paper with you but it's not compulsory.

Let's take some time to relax the body.

Roll your shoulders,

Gently move your head from side to side.

Tense and release your shoulders,

Your arms,

Hands,

Your legs and feet.

Take some deep breaths in,

Breathe deep into your belly and then push all the air out.

Do that again and once more.

We are in a liminal moment,

We're betwixt and between one year and the next.

This can be a time to reflect on the year we have just lived through and think about what we'd like to take through into the new year.

Let's take a few moments to think about the things that worked really well.

You can write them down if you like.

You you and now the things that didn't go so well you you and what things we'd like to take into the next year it's tempting to think we'll be able to make huge changes when the calendar flips from one year to the next but New Year's resolutions aren't always that sticky so incremental changes can be better or no changes at all what a gift to take into the new year the belief that we are perfectly imperfect as we are and there is no need to change anything we can still work towards achieving goals and there's nothing wrong with self-improvement but it has to come from a place of self-acceptance and love for exactly who we are in this moment and every moment no human being is perfect so our perceived flaws are what makes us human and that's a good thing if you like to use affirmations a good one is I love and accept myself just as I am loving accepting and backing ourselves as we are today gives us a solid foundation from which to prioritize our own self-care and create healthy boundaries okay let's take some time to relax our minds I'd like you to slightly deepen your breaths and count five breaths in and out repeat this counting to five breaths and then starting over if your mind wanders off it's okay just return to counting from one let's count our breaths and listen to the music for a minute or two you you you okay we're coming to the end of our time together you start to deepen your breath bring some gentle stretching to your body give yourself a pat on the back for showing up here today and taking this time to reflect and rest I hope the coming year brings you true self acceptance deep self-love and many many moments of calm and relaxation thank you for spending this time with me and happy new year you
