Welcome to this self-compassion meditation titled The Blanket of Love.
To get started for this meditation,
Please find a comfortable posture,
Either seated or laying down.
Once you are situated,
Gently close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Take a moment and notice how your body feels in this present moment.
Notice if there's any tension stored in the forehead,
The eyes,
Or the jaw.
And without any judgment,
Just allow it to simply seep down towards the earth.
In the same way,
Notice if there's any tension in the neck or the shoulders.
Once again,
Allow any tension or tightness to melt slowly and run down your body into the ground.
In the same fashion,
Gently scan your body now from your shoulders to the toes and look for any tension stored in the body and allow it to melt away,
Melting down towards the ground.
Allow your body to relax even further in this moment.
Imagine now that there is a blanket draped over you.
And this blanket is made of a beautiful and soothing material for you.
This may be a blanket made of a very soft and warm texture like fleece.
Or you can even use your imagination and think of a blanket made of a bed of flowers that's all knitted together.
Or even a bright,
Soothing light that washes over you.
Think about what you need in this present moment and imagine this blanket texture draping over you.
And keep the same image of this blanket throughout your meditation so you can really learn to concentrate on this healing quality of this blanket.
Begin to observe this healing blanket of your mind.
Let the energy of your choice drape over you and envelop you in the most gentle and loving way.
And as this blanket touches your body,
You realize that this blanket is infused with this deep,
Unquestioning,
Unconditional love.
And this love is now enveloping you completely.
Feel the love that this blanket carries now seep into every cell,
Every muscle,
Every organ,
And every thought within your body.
No matter how you're feeling or what you're thinking,
And no matter what emotions you're feeling,
What stories you're carrying today,
This blanket embraces you.
Just like sunlight,
This warmth from this blanket enters every single part of you,
Suffusing you with love.
Some areas of your body might naturally receive this love and compassion,
While others might be resistant.
If this is the case,
Just focus on the places where love would enter naturally and allow it to move gently and expand to other areas in your body.
That are a bit more closed off in this moment.
If your mind drifts into various thoughts,
Simply just observe without any judgment.
And then direct your focus back to the sense of the blanket enveloping you with love,
Compassion,
And acceptance.
And really feel the energy of these qualities start to seep into every cell of your body.
If any tension or negative thoughts begin to rise up,
Just allow the love from the blanket to embrace and dissolve the tension and negativity away.
Once again,
Just surrounding you and hugging you with this warmth and acceptance.
Take a moment now,
Place one palm on your chest and the other on your abdomen.
And just notice how you feel in this present moment.
How does your body feel?
How does your mind feel?
How does your heart feel?
And as we finish today's meditation,
Just know that you can always come back to this feeling of safety,
Warmth,
Compassion,
And acceptance throughout your day by simply just imagining a warm blanket of your choice enveloping you with these qualities.
Take a moment now to bring your hands to heart center,
Opening your eyes if they were closed,
And thank yourself for taking the time to practice meditation today and to honor yourself.
