Welcome.
My name is Libby Lucier and I'm your guide for this meditation.
This meditation is inspired by Psalm 33 verses 1 through 9.
It takes you on a peaceful journey to the ocean's edge.
Through vivid imagery you are led down a sandy path where waves crash,
Birds call,
And the beauty of nature surrounds you.
As you walk along the shoreline you are invited to reflect on the majesty of God's creation,
Allowing your heart to open in gratitude and awe.
This meditation creates a sacred space for stillness,
Wonder,
And connection with the divine.
It is designed to bring peace to your spirit,
Quiet to your mind,
And renewal to your soul.
Before we begin,
I encourage you to find a quiet space for yourself,
Free of any disturbances.
Allow yourself to get into a comfortable position and gently close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and hold for a count of two and release.
Take another deep breath in.
Now see,
Sense,
Or imagine that you are near the ocean or the sea and as you stand on a sandy knoll,
You can hear the sound of the waves crashing onto the rocks and onto the beach.
The seagulls are calling to one another.
Your mind envisions the inviting sea ahead and you are excited to begin this journey with the rushing waves,
The blue saltwater,
And the sandy beach.
As you begin to walk toward the ocean,
You feel the warm,
Dry sand beneath your feet.
The wind blows through your hair and the fresh scent of saltwater is floating in the air.
You breathe in deeply,
Taking the fresh air into your lungs,
And you are grateful for this time to be near the beautiful ocean.
As you continue to walk along the sandy path,
You notice simple patches of grass popping up out of the sand.
The path to the ocean twists and turns around various small bushes,
And you notice birds pecking at the berries on the bushes.
Their chatter is a welcome sound,
And then they quickly fly away.
You spot a wild rabbit hopping past your feet and then scampering to hide beneath the bush.
As you continue to walk,
At times the path has a slight incline,
And when you reach the top of the incline,
You notice the sound of the ocean is getting louder.
You continue to walk,
Enjoying the beauty and the sounds around you.
As you approach the last incline on the path,
You see large cloud formations in the sky.
The sun peeks through the clouds and quickly hides again.
Then the sun continues to move in and out of the cover of the clouds,
Like a child playing peekaboo.
When you finally reach the beach,
The expansive view of the ocean is breathtaking.
A chill runs down your spine as you move toward the water.
The white caps on the waves lap at the beach,
And each one is mesmerizing.
As you take in the glory of God's creation,
You are reminded of verse 7 in Psalm 33.
He gathers the waters of the seas into jars.
He puts the deep into storehouses.
Your heart swells,
Knowing you have an entire beach to explore and enjoy.
You turn to your left and decide to make your way down the sandy,
Wet beach.
As you walk along the wet sand,
You notice your footprints create an indentation in the sand.
With each step,
Salt water fills the outline of your footprint,
And then the water recedes once again.
You hear the seagulls singing loudly,
And watch them gliding in the air,
Looking for food.
You realize they,
Too,
Are part of God's great plan.
As you continue your walk,
You spot tiny shells buried in the sand.
You reach down to pick one up and admire the simple,
Yet wonderful,
Color of the shell.
The possibility that this little specimen may have been a home for a sea animal is miraculous.
You continue to walk and notice small little bubbles coming up to the surface of the sand.
You smile as you watch them pop here and there.
After walking for a while,
You notice the surf is starting to gather around your ankles,
And you decide it's time to walk to higher ground.
You notice a large log lying on dry sand farther up the beach,
And you decide to walk toward it.
When you arrive at the log,
You sit down and enjoy the ocean experience from this vantage point.
You are grateful to God for the peace this experience brings you,
And your heart is filled with joy.
Several hours have passed,
And you look to the horizon and see the last of the sunset lowering beneath the clouds.
Then the last rays of light lean into the horizon.
The sun has set for the day,
And it is now time to return back to the beginning of your ocean beach walk.
You make your way back up the sandy beach toward the pathway,
Following the winding path through the sandy knolls and inclines,
Noticing once again the small clumps of grass poking through the sand.
The birds continue to still seek berries on the bushes,
And wildlife hides in and around the path,
Despite the darkness.
You look ahead and see where the place is that you began your journey.
You arrive back,
Feeling refreshed,
Grateful,
And at peace.
I now invite you to gently return back to the room,
Back to your physical body,
And the chair you are sitting in.
Begin to wiggle your fingers and your toes,
And take a deep breath in and release.
And when you are ready,
You may gently open your eyes.
Namaste,
Beloved.
Namaste.
Namaste.
