Before we begin.
I'd like to invite you to simply listen.
You don't need to analyze these words or try to understand them with the mind.
Instead allow them to settle gently within you.
Like ripples upon a still lake.
This poem is inspired by Avidya,
The first of the five kleshas described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
Avidya,
Often translated as ignorance,
Is more accurately understood as misperception.
The tendency to mistake appearances for reality.
And to forget the deeper truth of who we are.
As you listen.
You may recognize moments from your own life.
Times when fear was created by misunderstanding.
Or when clarity emerged simply because you began to see differently.
May these words remind you that wisdom is not about becoming someone new.
It is about gently removing the veils that hide what has always been present.
So take a slow comfortable breath.
Allow yourself to settle.
And simply listen.
A poem titled The Rope Was Never a Snake.
There was a moment when I believed everything I saw.
Every thought.
Of the feel.
Every story felt like truth.
I called it me.
I held it tightly as if letting go would undo me.
But then.
.
.
A quiet light appeared.
Not loud,
Not forceful,
Just present.
And in that seeing,
Something softened.
Not because the world changed,
But because I did.
The snake disappeared and the rope had always been enough.
And I.
.
.
Had always been.
The One,
Who could see?
Do we have any questions,
Anyone would like to share anything or just send me some hearts.
So I know that you're still over here.
Because sometimes it can be a bit quiet.
So these Yoga Nidra events are part of a series of events that take place every Venice Day.
Thank you,
Laura.
And uh.
.
.
What we have started looking at from this week are the five afflictions.
Today we looked at avidya.
The next week we will be looking at asmita and asmita translates to egoism.
So next week's session will be based on asmita,
Egoism.
Tomorrow,
Thursday is.

May you be Gently released from the burden of miss seeing.
May what is unclear be met not with force but with light.
May you remember again and again.
That you are not what passes but what remains aware.
And in moments of confusion,
May you pause long enough to see that the rope was never a snake.
And neither are you what you have been taught to fear.
Namaste.
