Getting In Touch With Your Body
You are not your body.... you have a body; a beautiful, magical, magnificent body that loves you and wants to serve you. Having a great relationship with your body starts with appreciation, understanding, and awareness of what your body is saying and what beliefs are guiding your behavior.

In this month,
In the first week,
We're going to do just a general overview of what it means to really feel good and at home in your body while you are moving in the direction of your optimal health,
Of your ideal weight,
Of your ideal fitness,
And the ways in which you can go about feeling and being beautiful in your body just exactly like it is while you're on the way to making the healthy changes that will enhance your life,
Enhance your self-esteem,
But remembering not to tie yourself and your opinion of yourself to your physical body.
Today,
I want to give you a lot of questions to ponder and a lot of statements and a lot of ideas for you to begin thinking about,
And I want to offer you a free gift that is a Connect with Your Body guided meditation.
What this meditation is going to do is just going to hold your hand for about 15 minutes and just talk you through getting in a place where you feel like you and your body and your spirit and your breath are the only ones there and that you're really tuning into each part of your body and learning to listen for what messages your body can give you and what input you can get and how you can learn to be in greater harmony with your body and to be able to hear what it is that your body wants.
If we are giving our bodies good food,
Good air,
Good water,
And most importantly,
Good happy,
Healthy,
Loving thoughts,
Then our little bodies are like puppy dogs that just want to serve us and they're doing the absolute best that they can do what we want them to do to please us,
To serve us.
So it's our job to do our part to figure out what it is that our bodies want and how we can best help our bodies to thrive.
The first thing that I want you to remember is that you have a body.
You are not your body.
You are a divine,
Eternal being of light that has no beginning and has no end and is spending just a short little adventure on this planet in this earth suit that allows you to adapt to this environment and breathe this air and to be able to make physical activity in the world that is so delicious and so awesome.
But that's not who you are.
It's something that you have.
So love and respect and honor your body,
But understand that that's not you.
It's just an instrument that you have that's carrying you through this world.
And so ask yourself some of these questions.
How do you treat your body?
Do you give your body things that you believe to be unhealthy?
Do you act like an advocate for your body or do you act like a bully?
Are you a cheerleader and someone who looks at your body and says,
Thank you,
Thank you feet for carrying me all of the many,
Many miles that you've carried me on this planet.
Thank you to all the things that are working perfectly,
Your heart that beats on its own and your breath that is that never ever lets you down and all of the great things that are going on with your body.
Are you appreciating those or are you zeroing in on the things that are going wrong and shaming your body,
Blaming your body,
Being angry,
Being critical,
Being mean to your body.
Do you look at your belly and say,
Oh,
I can't stand you or do you look at your body and say,
Hey,
You know,
You and I got here together and you and I can get to a different place together too.
So how do you relate to your body and just without judgment,
You know,
Don't beat yourself up if you find that you are critical,
You find that you are mean,
That you are not being a good friend to your body.
Just kind of ask,
Let's just explore and increase our awareness in this month.
What is your relationship with food?
There's that this has become a topic that is almost up there with politics and religion in that people get to be very passionate about their point of view about food and what foods people should eat.
And there are thousands and thousands and thousands,
Maybe millions of different diet plans out there that are designed to,
You know,
Lose belly fat,
Increase your metabolism,
Manage your hormones,
Whatever catchphrase they can use that they are playing to one of the closest things to us in that,
You know,
We carry our bodies everywhere.
And especially as women,
We have a lot of pressure on we feel some perceived pressure,
A lot of perceived pressure to be beautiful,
To be sexually attractive.
And we have a lot of role models in our media that we can tend to compare ourselves to.
So we're going to get out of that habit,
We're going to get out of the mode of comparing ourselves to anyone else,
Most especially the people who make their living being beautiful,
And have all kinds of tools and tricks and things that that create their appearance.
We're not going to compare ourselves to anyone else,
And we're not going to expect our bodies to fit into any cookie cutter way of eating and living.
Now,
A lot of those plans out there are not healthy.
They're not,
They're most definitely fads,
Or trends,
Or hacks that people will do.
And there are just a few that are really focusing on being healthy,
And not,
You know,
Giving you outrageous expectations and things like that.
And those things will all have things in common,
Like processed foods and trans fats.
And you know,
There are some things that everybody agrees with.
But the idea is to figure out what it is that you love,
Figure out what it is that you believe,
Do your own research,
And this is where tuning in with your body and beginning to understand how your body is talking to you will help you make decisions about what foods are good for you.
So if you know how feeling good feels,
And you eat something that doesn't agree with your body,
Then you're going to understand,
You know what,
That is not in alignment with me.
This particular substance,
I don't care if it's broccoli or steak or,
You know,
Whatever it is,
It's not necessarily great for your particular body.
And the only way you can know is to get in touch and begin to understand what's going on with your own body.
So ask yourself that what is your level of awareness as to how your body feels and how it responds to the different things in your environment that you give it,
Your food,
Your air,
Your exercise,
Your sleep,
Your stress management,
Your level of play.
This is all about getting in alignment with and having a good relationship with your body.
What is your relationship with exercise and movement?
Do you feel like you have to do certain things regarding getting your body moving,
Like you have to run a certain amount of miles or you have to spend a certain amount of time in the gym?
And what's your relationship with that?
Are you finding ways to move that please all the parts of you,
Your mind,
Your soul,
And your body?
Or are you using your mind to force your body into things that none of you like?
You know,
What are these things?
What's working for you?
And what are you working against?
And what walls are you pounding your head against?
What kinds of play do you do?
Do you take time to set aside to just move your body in ways that are fun?
Do you have even any idea of what kinds of things you might enjoy and ways of moving your body you might enjoy again?
This week we're just going to ask the questions and we're just going to begin to raise our level of awareness and then next week we'll get a little bit more specific about some different things about food and stress and exercise and things like that.
Remember that you're unique.
You're unique in your spirit,
You're unique in your physical form,
And that you have patterns of thought regarding food and exercise in your body that have developed just like all of your other thought patterns throughout your whole life.
So don't beat yourself up for these,
Just recognize them.
Do you have predetermined beliefs about food?
Do those beliefs serve you?
Do you feel like you are educated about the choices that you make or are you just doing what someone else said or putting the power over your body in the hands of someone else?
No one has the opportunity to live in and from your body like you do.
Think about that this week and share your comments with us and go and download the free meditation and just use that 15 minutes to start asking your body these questions.
How is your body feeling?
What does your body want to say to you?
That's what we're all about.
Everybody gets to choose what happiness means to them and to make the choice to actually be happy and we're giving you the tips and tools to be able to do that.
Until next Tuesday,
Have an amazing weekend.
Keep a bright shiny outlook on all of that and stay with us here and let us help you.
Let us join you on your journey to your best life ever.
Until next Tuesday,
Remember that happiness is a choice and you can always choose to be happy first.
