
Heart to Baby Pregnancy Practice
A short and sweet practice for pregnant mothers to pause, relax and connect with their baby. This gentle breath practice creates a nurturing bond between the heart and baby to bring peace, love and trust to the journey to motherhood.
Transcript
Welcome to this pregnancy meditation,
A time and space for you to connect deeply with your baby.
Take your time now to get comfortable either lying down on your side or seated with support for your body in whatever way you need it.
This might be on a chair,
On the floor,
With pillows surrounding you.
Give yourself the chance to get as comfortable as you possibly can.
For the next few moments give yourself permission to tune out from external noises,
From to-do lists and from the push and pull of daily life.
Give yourself a chance to tune into the wisdom of your body.
This precious time will give you a chance to connect and cultivate a nurturing relationship between you and your baby.
To connect in with the sacred portal of your womb and the miraculous process that is unfolding within you right in this very moment.
Now that you have made yourself comfortable,
Take a deep breath in and sigh that breath out through your mouth,
Letting go of any anxiety or any tension that you might be holding on to.
You can wiggle the jaw,
Release any clenching in the teeth,
Allow the muscles in the face to soften.
And I invite you to take two more deep,
Deep breaths,
Deep cleansing breaths and then allow your body to simply breathe itself.
And with every single breath,
Feel your body softening and relaxing even more.
Now follow your breath down into your lower belly,
Into your pelvis and as you feel this part of your body fill with fresh new oxygen,
Gently place your right hand onto the space where your baby lies and bring all the air into your body.
And as you do that,
You can feel your body slowly and gently lies and bring all your attention to the life that is within you right now.
Let this breath flow in and out for a few moments as you acknowledge the wondrous creative process that is happening in every second of every day for you.
Let your hand just rest here softly and tenderly,
Offering support to both you,
Your body and your baby.
On your next breath,
Watch this breath fill up your entire chest,
Your lungs and your heart space fill with this new life force energy and you feel this breath begin to circulate around the spaces in your chest.
Place your left hand over your heart space and invite this part of your body to step forward.
Let the breath flow here,
Allowing the loving,
Compassionate energy of your heart space to arrive right now.
Now connect with both parts of your body,
The belly where your baby grows and the heart space.
Begin to visualize a channel of energy linking both your heart and your baby together.
This visual might arise as a color,
A flow of water,
A healing light or perhaps it may be more of a sensation of connection.
Allow yourself to start to feel the loving,
Mothering energy of the heart to bathe and surround your baby and your womb,
Bringing the loving,
Protective strength of your heart together with the creative powerful energy of the life that is growing within you.
As you breathe in,
Feel a sense that your breath is moving down from your heart space where your left hand rests,
Through this channel to your baby where your right hand rests.
As you breathe out,
Feel this breath move from your baby back up to your heart space,
Connecting these two sacred portals together now.
Allow your breath to move in a flowing,
Connected pace from your heart to your baby and from your baby to your heart space.
Allow your breath to move in a flowing,
Connected pace from your heart to your baby and from your baby to your heart.
Each breath cultivates a stronger and stronger connection.
Breathe in every nourishment that your baby needs and breathe out anything that no longer serves you.
Breathe unconditional love and compassion down into your baby and breathe trust and surrender up from your baby into your heart.
Breathe gratitude and nourishment down into your baby and breathe courage and inner wisdom from your baby up into your heart.
Continue to breathe in and out in this connected way for a few moments with each breath acting as a catalyst for more and more of a bond between you and your baby.
This strong,
Deep bond and this powerful breath bathes you and your baby in this beautiful,
Nurtured,
Mother energy.
Now slowly bring both hands down onto your baby,
Bringing the thumbs and first fingers to touch in the shape of a beautiful triangle.
Let your hands rest here and feel the rise and fall of your belly as your breath bends your baby.
Now take some deep,
Nourishing breaths into your womb,
Into the space where your baby is growing and let each breath fill the spaces and gaps that may be feeling restricted or uncomfortable.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Now take the deepest breath that you have taken all day,
Surrounding your baby with fresh new air and then sigh the breath out,
Sending with it any last residues of anxiety or tension,
Any fears or worries that you may have.
Do this twice more,
Using your exhale to release anything that no longer serves you or your baby.
Now give yourself a few moments to awaken the body by bringing a little movement to the hands and the toes and take one more last moment to bring your full attention to your baby.
Know and trust that this time you spend with them is sacred and a vital part of this motherhood journey.
Now when you're ready you can open your eyes and absorb your surroundings,
Knowing that you have created this channel between your heart and your baby and that you can access it whenever you need.
