Hey there,
This is Jen with Laughing Lotus Wellness.
Welcome to our meditation practice.
Hello hello,
This is Jen with Laughing Lotus Wellness.
Welcome in.
Today we're talking about sweetness and cultivating our own self-love mantra and intention,
If you will.
And so today we're going to connect the mind and the heart for soul-based awareness around sweetness and so we are going to get started just by talking about how important self-love is.
And I think it's very interesting for most of us it's so easy to connect really quickly with our love for other people,
Right?
So that's like resonates really deeply for us and it's easy and it's a little more challenging sometimes for us to love ourselves,
To cultivate that self-respect,
Self-love.
And so I invite you today to have an experience with that,
To take a little bit of a journey with me,
If you will,
Around that.
But first,
Why it's so important.
Self-love is important because everything that's good comes from within,
Right?
Everything that's good starts with us.
And so if we are really have super strong self-love muscles,
When things happen to us,
We have greater resilience,
Right?
So when things are not going so good,
Right?
When things are easy,
It's easier to find these things,
To connect with them,
Right?
And when things are challenging,
Those are the moments where I find we struggle a little bit more with really digging deep and finding that self-love and respect.
And so I want you to think about self-love as things like self-respect,
Self-care,
Self-love,
Self-compassion,
Forgiveness for yourself.
Typically one or a couple of those will really like zing us a little bit and we'll have this sense like,
Ooh,
I could probably use a little more of that in my life.
And so just listen to that intuitively,
Right?
And so truth is,
Is that it's all about resilience.
Is that our ability to return to self-love and know that we have a source for that that's internal means we don't have to look outward for it from others.
And we need that too.
I never want to dismiss that we don't need deep connection relationships and love from other people because we do.
We thrive in that as well.
And having our own sense of it means when the road is rocky,
There's a place to always return to.
And so I invite you to that space.
And so today we're going to do a little journey that way.
We're going to do a little sound healing.
I just wanted to give you a little bit of a snapshot about how I work and how meditation works and what it feels like,
Because I think that's really important to have that like just that experience.
And so I invite you in.
I invite you in today.
You're going to hear me use that language quite a bit as inviting in.
And so if you're able to either come back around if you don't have time to sit and I understand that I might be getting you at your work day or wherever you might be in a position where you can't really sit with us and spend time.
But if you can,
I invite you to find a seat,
A comfortable seat.
And then otherwise you can lie down.
So that's fine.
And or you can just listen.
So if you're at home,
Say getting ready,
You're this is really easy to just kind of pop on your counter somewhere and continue getting ready for your day.
Maybe just take a listen today.
And I invite you to close your eyes if you're willing.
Soften your gaze if that's not comfortable for you can just soften the gaze.
You don't have to watch me.
There's nothing I'm doing ever during a meditation that's entertaining.
Well,
I mean,
Other than my facial expressions and probably,
You know,
Some weird things,
But not really.
So don't you don't have to watch what I'm doing.
So I invite you to find a comfortable space to invite in steadiness and comfort.
Surya and sukha are yoga terms for steadiness and comfort.
And that's always the goal of a practice.
It's always the goal.
It's really the goal for our lives as much as possible,
Steadiness and comfort in whatever fashion we can find it.
And so I invite you in.
I invite you into that space.
My heart invites your heart in.
I have two singing bowls here today.
I have the one that's going to help us generate intuition and our thoughts and the other one's going to generate our heart space,
Of course.
And I want to briefly say as we sink and settle here,
Finding the breath,
Deepening the breath.
Slowing things down here.
As you do this,
Understand that you are having an experience.
And so whether it's an earth rocking experience of some kind,
Or it's just really subtle and gentle,
You are experiencing healing on a cellular level.
So every time we step into a meditation,
A yoga practice,
Any form of healing,
It can either be incredibly profound or it might be really subtle.
But even when it's subtle,
There's always things happening for us.
There's always healing taking place.
And so try not to doubt,
Try to trust that there's always things being generated for you and it can show up later in your day.
It could show up in your dreams.
It could show up in an interaction you have later today.
The cool thing is that it's really kind of accessible to us all the time.
So trust that.
Trust that your experience is exactly as it should be.
And let go of any expectations around it is what I invite you to do.
And so just slowly coming into the breath here.
I also invite you to tap into the heart space for a moment so you can gently bring a hand to your heart.
And almost in time with the heartbeat,
You know,
Bump,
Bump,
Bump,
Bump,
Bump,
Bump,
Bump.
So as you tap here,
Quietly and gently in your own space with your own heartbeat,
Plugging into that connecting to it.
I am gently going to use the singing bowl to help elevate that vibration for you.
And then we'll bring that into alignment.
Just allowing that sound,
That vibration to come in.
And allowing that sound,
That vibration to float right into the body,
Into the cells,
Into the heart.
Lighting it up.
And now you can pause for a minute,
Drop the hands to the lap for just a moment.
Just relax and sense how you're feeling in this space for a moment.
How are you feeling?
How are the thoughts,
Sensations?
Maybe boxing anything extra you're bringing into your practice today,
Boxing that up and placing it aside to make space for this time.
All of your things will be there when you're done with practice today.
Having connected with the heart space.
We're going to move into that head space and you're going to just bring your fingertips if you're interested.
I love doing these physical gestures and just gently tapping on the forehead just like we did with the heart.
Bump,
Bump.
Bump,
Bump.
Real gentle.
You can just even just leave your fingers there and have that physical sensation of connection.
So we're going to just gently wake up that space as you're here.
Imagining a gold core that runs from that heart center all the way out to that head,
That forehead,
Center of the brain,
Using the mind.
Seeing that core full of light and love.
Full base connection runs between the head and the heart.
Again,
Allowing that sound to just permeate through the mind,
Through the body.
Getting us a little bit deeper into our moment,
Into the breath.
Making sure of releasing any tension or stress across the face,
The jaw.
Dropping the tongue from the rip of the mouth if it's there and releasing the shoulders.
If for any reason they're riding around up,
We want to just reduce and relax those shoulders down the spine.
And now in your mind's eye,
I invite you to imagine a door right in your heart space.
The door can be whatever color you like,
Whatever style you like,
Whatever really suits your mind,
Whatever comes forward.
I invite you to open that door.
And as you do,
You step inside.
Step inside your heart space.
The first thing we do is we turn back.
So now we're at the backside of the door and we can see out and I want you to invite in some of the great loves of your life.
It could be pets,
Friends,
Partners,
Parents,
Grandparents.
Any of your connections,
Your tribe.
And see them standing in a semi-circle outside the door.
Hearts illuminated in energy and light,
Each of them.
And in turn,
You might imagine making eye contact with each one of them and their love for you is going to flow in that light that's going to come in through the doorway.
And with their light they send might be a message.
It could be something they really deeply love about you,
A shared memory,
A sensation,
A texture,
A symbol,
Whatever it is,
Allowing that in,
Inviting that in.
So that light's going to flow past you into the door of your heart space.
And as you breathe here,
Even steady breath.
In turn,
Take a moment connecting with each of them,
Taking in their love for you,
That sweetness they're sending you,
Sweetness.
Just listening for that sweetness.
Feeling that connection.
That's a loving light and sweetness from those people,
Beings,
Whatever connections you have flow into that door.
Just taking that in,
Inviting it in.
And now having filled up all of that sweetness,
Taking in the joy and the journey and the love that those people feel for you,
Those beings feel for you.
And send them some gratitude and love back for a moment,
Just a virtual or real hug or just a sense of love and light being sent back to them for a moment.
And then we're going to lovingly close the door after having sent our love to contain that love and the space.
Our loved ones,
Our loved beings showed up for us and now there's this space for us.
And so I invite you to turn around and now see the sacred space of your heart filled with love and sweetness,
Filled with light.
You might imagine a beautiful scenery,
Whatever works for you that brings you joy,
Perhaps a meadow,
It could be a creek or a river,
Lake,
There could be lots of trees,
There could be flowers,
It could be like a garden.
Just imagining your sacred space here inside your heart and it's just you.
Right now you get to take a moment and walk to the center of that space and have a seat in the middle of your beautiful sweetness,
The sweetness of your heart.
Looking around knowing that whatever is cultivated there has been cultivated by you and your loved ones.
And going deeper,
I invite you to reach out and touch a blade of grass if it's there or a flower to really connect with the senses in this space.
How you're feeling,
What the weather and temperature is like in that space.
You see and hear what you feel,
All of those pieces and I want you to pull those all together.
Pulling that mindfulness,
All of the senses,
Really experiencing your space.
Inviting that in,
Trusting the mind to take you where it needs you to go.
Deeply connected in this space here.
So feeling surrounded in love and light here gifted to us by our loved ones.
Now we're going to imagine the things that those loved ones would say to us about what they admire and appreciate about us.
One could be kindness or compassion,
Playfulness,
Generosity and grace,
Forgiveness,
Trustworthiness,
Honesty.
So going in for a minute,
Just allow the love and the aspects that they bring each of them to you in their connection,
Imagining those qualities.
What would they say?
What would they say about you?
And now I want you to imagine,
I invite you to think about the things that really make you who you are.
What are the great qualities about what you bring?
A witty,
Funny,
Fun,
Silly,
Playful,
Hardworking,
Reliable,
Responsible,
Graceful,
Patient.
And for a minute I want you to just feel that sweetness take you over to appreciation for yourself and feel that heart getting a little bit bigger,
A little bit wider,
That sacred space here and that sweetness,
It's growing with your love and light.
And you know that all of the self-love that you cultivate all of that self-awareness is the place that all goodness stems from.
That allows us to send out our love more fully,
Completely and truthfully.
We have to take care of ourselves and love ourselves,
Fill ourselves up with sweetness so that we can share it out to the world.
And I invite you here now to create your own intention or mantra for this next period of time.
I am whatever it is you need more of to cultivate your own sweetness.
I am patient.
I am having self-compassion.
I am taking time for self-care.
Whatever it is that you need more of to continue on your journey of self-love,
Self-care,
That's what your mantra will be.
So in your mind's eye,
Taking a moment again,
Connecting with that what is your intention?
What is your mantra?
Solve a sweetness,
Connecting the mind with the heart.
Mind and the heart.
And now having taken and setting that intention and that mantra in your mind and your heart,
Taking a final moment in that sacred sweet space that you've created,
Taking a snapshot of what it's like to be here,
How it feels,
Having a moment of gratitude and reverence for this beautiful sweetness.
And now walking back to that doorway and the heart space,
Opening that door up,
Walking outside and gently closing the door.
And then gently closing the door,
We don't close anything off,
We contain that sweetness you've cultivated there.
We're going to allow it to resonate,
To marinate,
If you will,
Let that sweetness be present with you and for you for today.
And imagining that heart space is both the ability to take love in and to send it out,
We always know that that door goes both ways.
And there are times where it's incredibly crucial that we hold space for ourselves.
So we honor that sometimes that door will be closed so that we can go inward and cultivate our own sweetness and love and kindness to come back out and share that again.
That is your sacred sweet space.
So we're just going to connect the heart and the mind again,
Both together,
Eyes closed here.
Feeling that connection between the head and the heart.
Soul based awareness,
Soul based sweetness.
And allowing that sound to just pass over and through you.
Taking a moment here to pause and reflection and gratitude,
Reverence and honor.
You might begin to run the thumb across the ends of the fingertips,
Slowly wiggling the fingers and toes,
Slowly bowing the head to the chest,
Bringing the chin to the chest.
Bowing for a moment for honor,
The time you spent in practice and community.
You might like running your hands together here,
Just rubbing them together and building up some heat,
Gently placing those hands over the heart for a moment.
It's healing in your practice.
It's healing in that mantra.
And then slowly when you're ready,
Gently opening the eyes,
Letting the eyes open,
Coming back into this space.
As always,
This is Jen signing off.
Blessings,
Love and light to each of you on your journey and we will see you next time.
