Hello and welcome to a guided meditation on walk running.

In this meditation we will cultivate gratitude and purpose in any walk running environment that you've chosen.

In the present,

Your presence is a present to all of us,

Opening yourself up to receiving wisdom and messages in all of the space,

All of the place that you'll be moving through today.

The nature of the people,

You begin the simple mental request,

A permission,

Asking permission of your surroundings,

Your fellow human beings,

A simple request to be granted recognition,

To be granted belonging,

To dedicate today an intention of respect and gratitude for the environment which you'll be passing through,

The air which we'll be breathing,

The solid earth which our feet will be touching against,

The feel of light upon our faces.

We'll begin in just a moment with our guided meditation.

Before we do so,

I'd like you to take a moment to picture yourself walking in the future space that you'll be going.

You could close your eyes or you could just think about it,

And when we start moving then of course we'll need to open our eyes.

You'll picture yourself moving through that space right now.

You may know your route,

You may not,

But you kind of have an idea where you'll be going.

So with gratitude,

Let's breathe deeply and picture the movement that we'll be taking as a prayer of thanksgiving to ourself for each step we'll be taking along this route,

And to others who allow us to make it happen.

Whether they give us this time,

Or they've worked to create a path for us,

Whether they've laid the pavement or groomed the trail,

We might think with gratitude of the hours and time that was put in before us,

The people that cleaned and worked to maintain this space.

As you begin,

I might suggest that you picture yourself going at a slow pace as we move together.

You might invite a newness or a curiosity to a place that you already know.

Let us let each step again be a prayer to those who love giving positive energy in each breath and smiling,

Grateful for each step.

Let's begin.

Walking with gratitude.

Now as we begin moving,

Let's notice the places where our feet contact the ground.

Become more aware of the things around you.

Open yourself up.

Try to be open and open more to nature,

Being fully present to its gifts,

Even small sounds,

Sights and smells,

Anything that could be possible,

Which you haven't noticed before.

Open to that.

Breathe.

What does this landscape have to teach us as we move through it?

Is it temperate?

Is it humid?

How's the quality of light?

What colors are we observing?

Let's go.

And breathe.

Breathe in with gratitude,

The air that powers your lungs and heart.

Be grateful for all the work that it does throughout the day and especially right now.

Moving our feet.

We move with them.

We might capture our breath for just a moment.

We might notice how our breath moves with the rest of our body,

How our purpose is to move forward,

And how our body amazingly works in direct unison.

Whatever we focus on,

We can move towards,

And our entire body,

Our entire stream of consciousness follows that.

Our arms swing,

Our feet move,

Our breath gives us life.

Again,

Offering up each step as a small prayer of gratitude for that land,

For that place around you,

For your own presence,

For the gift of this movement.

We are part of this universe.

What does it have to teach us?

First,

We are meant to be here,

Right here,

And right now,

Moving with purposeful intention for our good and for the good of all the beings that we will touch by investing in our own health,

In our own gratitude,

And in our own purpose,

Moving towards that purpose.

Perhaps that purpose might be something greater than self,

Something greater than we can even imagine,

But we're moving towards it one step at a time.

We feel the texture and the quality of these thoughts melding with the world around us,

And we keep moving.

We will most certainly come across obstacles,

Bumps in the road,

Things that give us pause,

Maybe even something difficult inside of us.

There may be tension,

There may be discomfort.

Be present to that.

Allow your body to send you messages,

Just as you've done with those things around you.

Realize that thoughts come and go,

Just like the things that we pass by.

Some thoughts are difficult,

But if we keep smiling,

We can bring joy even to the difficulty,

Even to what is painful or uncomfortable.

We can approach it with a sense of joy and gratitude for just being here,

For just being able to feel and recognize those challenges or discomfort that we come across in this walk and in the walk of our lives.

Acceptance and then letting go.

Being willing to let go of any negative thoughts,

We continue on.

Am I willing?

Am I willing to let go?

Then do so.

We are meant to be here,

Right here and right now.

There may be lots of noise and lots of thoughts that surround us,

But our purpose is to move forward.

Moving forward with gratitude ever growing,

An ever growing purpose or intention that perhaps you have set before we started or perhaps has been developing as we move.

We've noticed the quality of changing the sun,

The temperature,

The shadows,

The people,

The places,

The objects.

Things change as we pass by them,

As we immerse ourselves in the beauty of life.

Change is inevitable,

But again,

Coming back to our breath and a deep smile.

We are grateful for change too,

Because we know we're alive when we notice change.

Moment by moment,

Breath by breath,

We are grateful.

Grateful for this meditation,

Grateful for one another,

Grateful for our community.

May you continue on with ever more gratitude and ever more purpose to bring to this movement and to all those whose life you will touch.

Thank you for investing this time and may peace be with you as we move together.

We'll see you next time.

Awesome, I’m glad you mentioned it in your comments of the other running one. This is good to run with. Thank you.

I don’t know if it was the music in the background if there’s something about that or just exactly what you said, and when you said it, but this really got my spirits lifted this morning and had me full of gratitude with every step, even though I try to do that every time I’m walking . And that’s what I do all day. I’m a Dog Walker… This really got me centered where I needed to be with my mindset. Thank you so much.
