Oh So I want you just to meditate as you are used to meditating and I will from time to time I'll say things to connect you to the instructions for the formless meditation So wake,
Wake,
Wake,
Wake,
Wake,
Into your immediate experience Immediate before any concept As you notice concepts or thoughts or limitations or confusion just relax and just wake Just wake up without any worry Notice your heart You don't need to go into your heart,
You just need to open from your heart And whatever you're experiencing it's completely right It's just exactly that Notice what it means to be present You're just there,
Completely there,
Wherever you are you're there Like the Buddha on the eve of his awakening sitting under the Bodhi tree confident that he would awaken We will awaken,
There's no reason why we shouldn't awaken,
We will So sit like you believe it,
With the dignity of a Buddha Awake Wake just to being here,
Awake to the feeling of our connection with this place and this time with the ground,
With our body,
With our body touching the ground Our whole body is aware,
Awake We can turn our awareness to any part of the body and it becomes immediately full of this awake quality Notice it in your spine,
Your back,
Your shoulders,
Your head Everywhere is awake,
Everywhere is alive Your back is broad,
Straight,
Uplifted,
Strong Your hands are alive,
Every finger,
Your thumb,
Your palms,
The fronts,
The backs,
Your arms,
Wrists,
The elbows,
Shoulders,
It's all alive,
The hands resting on your eyes Opening your chest,
Opening your heart,
Especially a sense of upliftedness in the way you hold your head Sense of being uplifted or held from a thread that holds you and links you to the sky Your eyes open and looking out into the vastness of space,
Even if there's something appearing in your vision,
The space in which it's appearing is without limit,
Vast space And however you're experiencing the body,
That's it,
That's the moment,
That's now,
It's your presence here and now,
As your awareness enters into the different parts of your body That's right,
That's how it is,
If it's tight,
It's tight,
If it's loose,
It's loose If when you draw your attention to it,
It changes,
It changes It's all awake,
It's all alive It's all awake,
It's all alive And as your attention starts to drift,
Remember clearly what you're going to use to bring your attention back,
If it's going to be the out-breath then remember to bring your attention to the breathing,
Bring your attention to the nature of the experience of the out-breath or the in-breath or simply the experience of your body in the sense that there's something,
Some kind of rhythm of breathing that you're aware of there's an awareness of something,
Something that's right on the edge between life and death If you breathe again,
It's life,
If you don't,
It's death That's all your awareness,
Whichever way So So So So So If you notice thoughts or hesitations or worries,
Feelings coming and going as soon as you notice them simply open out into the space in which they're occurring So And if you're wondering what that space is,
That's good Gently,
Very very gently allow yourself to wonder It's not the same as thinking,
It's not trying to have a theory or getting involved in lots of thoughts It's homing in again and again at what you're actually immediately experiencing Space might just be a concept,
So what's the experience before the concept space?
So So So If the question's annoying you,
Just relax,
Be very simple As if you completely understood the nature of your experience without any question,
Just relax And when you notice thoughts arising,
Try to be with the thought as it arises and notice where it is,
Where it arises from and then what happens to it,
Just notice that,
It's a very relaxed way Where was it before you had a concept of it?
Before you thought it was a thought,
Where was it?
What was it?
Don't try to grasp the thought as an object It's not going to work So If you're starting to feel frustrated or annoyed,
Notice that thinking Notice how strange that is,
What is that?
Just thinking,
Where is it?
What is it?
What happens when you turn towards thinking?
When you let allow the thinking be,
What happens?
Is there more sense of space?
If you let the thinking be Does your heart respond?
If you let the thinking be If your mind starts to feel disturbed,
Then simply come back to your breath All the sense of space in which you're experiencing the breath All the sensations in your body associated with the breath Try to keep relaxed or try to begin to relax So So So The essence of the meditation is the confidence to simply be with no sense that you have to do anything or change anything It's really hard to get to that essence but don't forget that that's the direction Your nature is already openness It's already vast,
It's already all-pervading It's already perfect It will never be able to be grasped Already you are only awareness You are nothing other than awareness There's nothing about you that's not awareness You can never not be awareness It's always the play of what appears in awareness and the awareness in which it appears,
Always Always empty,
Open,
Boundless,
Endless and you're responding to that always That's your being It's never the case that there's no response The meditation is resting in that openness,
That awareness,
That responsiveness Just allowing the responses,
The responsiveness to move naturally move towards the resting in its own essence,
Resting in the awakened heart Meditation is the confidence to do that,
To allow that,
To give space to that to believe in that and as you open from your heart,
There's a response in the heart,
A sense of moving in the right direction,
A sense of the rightness of,
The release of understanding or opening or sensitivity some response in the heart which could be expressed perhaps in a sound or even the sound,
There may be a sound that suggests the movement and maybe the sound is something like ah ah ah ah ah ah.

Realise complete and perfect awakening.
May the heart's awareness awaken in the unawakened.
Where it has begun to stir may it never fade and may it awaken fully.
