Welcome to Wonder Bowl.

How are you doing?

This is day six where we're going to turn a cup of tea into a mindful break.

Have you got yourself a hot drink?

Have you got a comfortable spot to sit?

Pause if you need some more time.

Okay,

Start with the drink in your hands.

Feel the warmth of the cup and the texture of the surface.

What else can you notice?

The color and texture of the drink?

Look for all the little details.

Okay,

Now the smell.

Bring it up closer to your nose and breathe in.

Observe the smell and also what happens in your body.

Do you feel a bit of anticipation?

A hint of joy?

This is a drink you like,

Right?

Now a sip.

Notice your lips on the cup,

The warmth of the drink in your mouth,

Texture of the liquid and the flavor.

Notice how it feels going down your throat.

And notice how your mouth feels and tastes afterwards.

Pretty simple,

Eh?

But we rarely take the time to slow down and notice these things.

Too often we eat and drink mindlessly.

But not today.

Have another sip,

Paying close attention.

And now we're going to throw in some gratitude.

It's time to think about the ingredients in this drink,

Where they have come from,

And what people have been involved in getting this lovely hot drink here in front of you now.

And now we're going to take a sip of the drink and drink it out.

Think of the main raw ingredient.

Where did it come from?

How many people had to be involved to get it from there to here?

Farmers,

Pickers,

Processors,

Transporters.

Take a second to thank each of them.

Are there other ingredients you could do the same with?

Just say thank you.

All the way from there to the here and now.

You and this hot drink and a simple mindfulness practice that,

Done regularly,

Helps with everything from focus and sleep to immunity and pain relief.

So good on you.

One day at a time.
