Hello,
Kimberly Johnson here.
I am so honored you will be sitting with me today,
Exploring your inner world and your outer world.
I have been meditating since 2007 and am currently under the mentorship of the lovely Jack Kornfeld and Tara Brach.
My hope is leading you through meditations that give you access on the cushion and off of the cushion in day to day life to really develop and feel true peace,
True joy,
And true presence.
Today,
We are going to do a short meditation,
A sacred pause to find the good,
To connect in with joy and gratitude.
And we're going to do this by touching into our natural support system that's always here and available for us.
So we'll begin by you just taking a moment,
Bringing awareness to your body wherever you are.
Maybe you're standing or walking.
Maybe you're sitting in a chair.
Maybe you're lying on your bed.
Just bringing awareness to where your body is in this moment.
Beginning to feel your body breathing.
Letting the body settle.
Letting the body settle.
And just observing the body as it interacts with breath.
Watching the body lift up as you inhale.
Observing the body fall with the exhale.
Noticing how the body has a sacred rhythm.
And if you haven't yet,
Maybe letting the eyes close down or finding a place to hold your gaze or your drishti.
And as you continue to just follow the breath,
Gently bring the awareness.
To where your body makes contact with the chair,
The floor,
The bed.
And beginning to pay attention to this contact.
What does this contact feel like?
Is it hard?
Is it soft?
Is it cool?
Is it warm?
And as you notice the point of contact,
Begin to open your awareness to the natural support system that's right here.
How the chair,
The cushion or the bed holds you.
How it completely holds you without you needing to ask for anything.
And if you're walking,
Notice how your shoes support you.
They create this beautiful container for you to walk in the world.
And notice how beneath that,
How wherever your chair or bed sits,
How it's completely supported by the foundation of the building within which you're in.
How it's gently being held without asking to be held.
And then notice how this building is being held by the earth.
And how if you're walking that your body is being held by the earth.
Completely supported.
Completely held.
This earth completely holds and sustains our entire life and well-being without us asking.
It's always right here supporting us.
And then notice the breath again.
Notice when you inhale,
You pull oxygen from the air and it enters into the body.
And the body knows exactly how to use the oxygen to support your life.
And this air that's created by the natural world,
By the earth is always here supporting you and giving you life.
And as you breathe,
Bring the attention to the inside of your body.
Maybe feeling any sensations,
Maybe the heart pulsing or the belly churning.
Anything you can feel in the internal of this physical body.
And just bringing your awareness to how beautifully it's working.
To create blood,
To create new skin cells.
Your organs are working hard and over time.
Your liver is filtrating everything that enters into the body.
Your stomach breaks down food to provide the body nutrients and sustenance.
The body is totally supporting you without you ever asking for it.
Just feeling and sitting and breathing in this beautiful support network that we are all born into.
And really touching into what a miracle it is that all of these support systems exist on their own.
Allowing us to experience this life in this human body.
And what a beautiful gift it is.
And maybe today as you walk through this beautiful life with all of its 10,
000 sorrows and its 10,
000 joys,
Knowing that you can awaken to the support that's always here holding you.
No matter if you're in the sorrows or in the joys,
That you are always supported,
Held,
Nurtured.
And that you can open your eyes to this support at any moment in time.
Whenever you feel lonely,
Whenever you feel that you lack connection or support,
Maybe you're just frustrated knowing that this is always here to draw from,
To remember,
To remember.
Taking some just slow breaths.
Maybe even placing a hand over the heart and maybe whispering some gratitude to this miraculous body.
Or maybe placing a hand on the ground and offering some gratitude for the building you sit in,
For the earth you get to walk on.
Knowing that you are infinitely bound and connected to all things.
Maybe beginning to move the hips front and back,
Left and right.
Maybe the shoulders move left and right,
Creating a sway in the body,
Bringing movement back into the body.
Maybe the neck loosens and begins to move with the shoulders,
Letting the body move as it wants to.
And then maybe the eyes open and you take a moment to look around,
Feeling the love and connection of this place within which you sit and are wholly supported.
And taking this support as you take each step,
As you think each thought,
As you say each word today.
