Come into a position where you feel both comfortable and alert.
You could be lying down in a reclined position,
Sitting upright,
Or maybe you have your legs up the wall in an inversion.
Try not to get caught up in what you think a meditation pose should look like,
But allow your body to lead you to the right shape.
As you settle in,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze,
Beginning to take your focus inward.
Take a deep breath in through the nose and out through the nose.
Continue to focus on the breath by thinking inhale as you breathe in and exhale as you breathe out.
Notice how your body moves with each inhale and every exhale.
Begin to allow your body to relax a little more with every exhale.
Tune in to your body by doing a slow body scan that starts at your toes and goes to the crown of your head,
Noticing any sensations or tension that you may be experiencing,
Continuing to use that exhale to release all tension.
As you continue your body scan,
Make any little adjustments you need along the way to begin to feel more comfortable.
Throughout practice,
Your mind may bring up things for you to think about.
Try to allow those things to settle so you can focus solely on this experience.
Begin to notice any sounds around you,
Letting each sound come into your awareness and then let it go.
There's no need to analyze or label the sounds.
Letting go of the sounds and bringing your focus back to the breath,
Notice if your mind has settled.
Or you can continue to think inhale as you breathe in and exhale as you breathe out.
You can also add a count after every exhale.
So inhale,
Exhale 1,
Then inhale,
Exhale 2,
Counting all the way up to 10 and then starting back at 1.
If you're able to settle your thoughts completely,
Perhaps you let go of the counting.
Maybe you even let go of labeling your inhales and exhales and you allow yourself to be present completely in this moment.
Now that you're settled in,
It's time to tap into your inner wisdom.
You will do this by asking yourself a question and trying to keep the thoughts still and listen for something deeper to arise.
Today's question is inspired by the archetype,
The threshold.
We cross thresholds,
Doorways,
Entryways,
Gates,
Continuously.
This archetype suggests that the threshold that you stand on now is not your typical one.
It's an entryway to something bigger,
A new frontier.
It may require you to change in ways that you have not considered,
To leave behind parts of yourself to make space for what is next.
However,
Crossing a threshold may not always be voluntary.
Sometimes we are thrown across the boundary through circumstances far beyond our own control.
Either way,
We must move forward.
So turn your focus inward and consider a threshold that you stand on now and ask yourself,
What do I hope to achieve in this new phase?
Sit with this question without trying to analyze or think.
Just pay attention to anything that pops up.
What do I hope to achieve in this new phase?
As you practice listening to your own inner wisdom,
You may find that you got an answer or maybe nothing came up.
Something could come up later.
There is no wrong experience.
It takes time and practice to learn to listen to and to trust yourself.
Remember,
You trust that change brings valuable lessons and opportunities for your personal evolution.
Do trust that change brings valuable lessons and opportunities for your personal evolution.
Take a moment to reflect on this practice,
Recognizing what came up for you,
Thoughts,
Sensations,
Emotions.
Now bring the palms of your hands together at heart center,
Slightly bowing your head,
Expressing gratitude towards yourself for taking time for meditation and self-reflection.
The accomplishment is that you made space to practice.
After that,
There is no judgment or success factor.
Begin to bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings and when you're ready,
Open your eyes and allow your body any movement that it needs.
