We can get so caught up in others reactions that we live this surface life of trying to do and say the right things,
Just hoping for their approval.
But your goodness lives beneath all of that.
It's who you are when you watch a sad movie and feel an ache in your heart.
It's who you are when seeing a baby makes you smile.
It's who you are when you pause to appreciate the beauty of a sunset.
Your goodness has nothing to do with how you appear.
It is simply who you are.
And when you're fully tuned in to your own goodness,
The courage to be your true self in this world comes along for the ride.
Some will notice you,
Others won't,
But it doesn't matter because your goodness isn't made in their noticing.
It already is,
Always was,
And always will be.
So for a moment,
Stop looking for another to tell you that you're good.
Instead,
Remind yourself,
Let's do this together now.
Take a few moments now to settle into a comfortable position.
Inhaling slowly through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Just travel back in time to witness your goodness over the years.
See the child you with innocent hope in your eyes.
See the teenage you determined to enjoy this life.
See the adult you,
Arms heavy with care,
Pressing on even when it's hard.
So good.
Won't you sit,
Notice and nurture this goodness?
With each new inhale,
Allow your awareness of it to expand to every corner of your being.
Feeling full and sure now.
Shift back to the present.
Picture yourself as you are in this moment.
Sitting,
Listening,
Tuning in.
Your earnestness is lovely,
Your truest self is so genuinely good.
May you continue to give your goodness the loving recognition it deserves.
And may you flourish this day with a deep knowing of how good you are.
