This is Kelly.
Thanks for joining me today for this meditation.
This is all about finding your happy place,
Somewhere you can go when you are struck with anxiety or feeling the stresses of the world,
Connecting back to a moment of joy in your life,
A moment of comfort,
A moment of safety.
Go ahead and close your eyes and get comfortable.
Be lying down or sitting up,
Whatever works for you,
Whatever feels good in this moment.
And start to become present in your body,
Making notice of how you're feeling right now,
Noting how you would like to feel,
Noticing sensations in your body,
Noticing any tension,
Taking some deep breaths here,
Seeing if you can breathe into those areas where you feel any tension as a gesture of permission to release,
Even just a little bit.
Big,
Deep belly breaths,
Slowly in through your nose,
Long exhales,
Let go that little bit more,
Letting yourself relax as much as you can,
Warm underneath a cozy blanket.
Everything else matters right now,
You being here now.
I want you to think of a memory that makes you smile,
That makes you feel safe,
Joyful,
Silly,
Excited,
Whatever it may be,
Just a memory of yours that feels good.
Be a recent memory or a childhood memory,
A memory of you on your own or with your family or loved one.
Picture it,
Conjure it,
What does the scene look like around you?
What are the colors?
What are the objects you can see?
Know of them,
Who's there with you?
Notice them and hold gratitude for them.
What can you hear?
What sounds surround you?
What can you smell?
Take in all of your senses.
What can you feel?
What are the sensations on your body or emotions within?
What are you doing in this moment?
How do you feel when you're here in this happy place?
Know that you always have this place to come back to,
This memory,
This feeling.
One can take it from you.
Feel a sense of safety and a sense of love,
A sense of joy,
A sense of grounding and connectedness.
Give this happy place a name,
Like a word or a short phrase,
And hold this with you so that you can easily conjure this moment whenever you need to.
Now start to come back to your body,
The room you're in,
Noticing the sounds in the distance and feeling the sensations in your body.
Feel your heart beating or pulsing in your fingertips.
Back with a little bit of a stretch,
Wherever it feels good for you.
And when you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
