Have you ever had a dark night of the soul?
Do you know someone who has?
This is a term that signifies a season or a moment that is really heavy,
Where you are forced to face yourself,
Where it feels like the entire world is falling down on you.
This meditation came out of me as I was walking alongside someone whom I love dearly deal with their own dark night of the soul.
It is incredibly painful to watch and know how to show up to support in the right way.
And I am somebody who wants to fix things.
I want to recognize it,
I want to process it,
I want to fix it,
And I realize that it's not my job to fix it.
All I can do is show up with love,
With grace,
And support the best way I can.
So if you are going through your own dark night of the soul,
Or if you are walking next to somebody who is,
I hope these words really touch your heart.
I see you writhing.
I watch as you shake.
The pain inside of you grows.
You try to hide it.
With busyness and smiles,
You think that none of it shows.
I remember that black spiral.
The suffering inside.
The painful dark night of the soul.
I reach out to hug you,
Knowing I can't save you.
I see everything you hold.
I have to let you fall down,
Down.
I have to let you break and pick yourself up from the ground.
Your demons are roaming.
Black grains of sand.
Wanting to take over your heart.
Don't let them consume you.
Just come back inside.
Breathe and remember who you are.
I know it feels heavy.
You're dizzy and scared.
But there is purpose in the pain.
You'll have to get honest and feel everything.
Unravel the blame and the shame.
So let yourself fall down,
Down.
Let yourself break and pick yourself up from the ground.
In between your breaths,
In the spaces between thoughts,
Pools of peace await.
You have to slow down.
To come deep inside.
Surrender to the water's weight.
You'll question.
You'll cry.
You'll grieve and you'll wish.
This space is safe for it all.
Let it all burn.
Then rise from the ashes.
A new you will emerge from it all.
You know you can fall down.
You know you can break and then fly far from the ground.
Namaste.
Beautiful.
