This is a simple visualisation that takes you on a mental vacation by the ocean. This is a great practice to use when you need a simple way to transition into a quiet, attentive mental place. Your breath will serve to unite your body and mind as you hold this serene image of yourself by the ocean. This can lead to remarkable meditative states of bliss, energy and presence.

This is a visualization exercise for you to take a mental vacation.

Find a comfortable seat,

Close your eyes and imagine that you're sitting in front of the ocean.

Take a few moments to imagine the scene.

Picture all the details of this relaxing place.

Now begin to visualize the waves coming towards you.

Washing up to the shore and then gently returning,

Washing away into the horizon.

Notice that point where the blue sky meets the blue sea.

Hold your gaze here,

Taking deep breaths in and out and settling into this imagery.

Now begin to watch the peaceful waves flowing like your breath.

As you breathe in,

Watch the waves gently wash up to the shore and sand.

Maybe bring to mind the feeling of water touching your feet.

And as you bring up any subtle sensations,

As you exhale can you begin to visualize the waves returning back to the horizon.

Exhaling the waves gently washing up to shore,

Touching your feet.

Exhaling the waves return,

Washing back into the horizon.

Continue here for a couple more breaths.

Exhaling,

Exhaling.

Keep that peaceful sensation inside of you as you return your awareness to your surroundings.

Still having your eyes closed,

Let your muscles wake up by opening and closing your hands,

Shrugging your shoulders,

Moving around a bit.

Keep the feeling of peace and calm inside of you as you open your eyes and you sit quietly for a moment.

When you are awake and alert,

You can return to your usual activities knowing that you can return to this place in your mind whenever you want to relax.
