Welcome to your Elemental Yoga Nidra practice.
As you arrive in practice,
Notice if you could be more comfortable and make the necessary shifts.
Know that you are always welcome to adjust for greater comfort.
Fidgets are a part of Yoga Nidra too.
Take a very long breath in through your nose and so softly sigh it out.
And take a very long breath in through your nose and so softly sigh it out.
Last time for now.
Take a very long breath in through your nose and so softly sigh it out.
Watch your natural breath ebb and flow.
Your practice today is a reminder of your place as a part of nature and an honoring of each element's role in building the natural world.
Setting an intention for your practice could be,
I am one with nature.
Or you could draw on a particular element such as,
I flow like water.
Or I am grounded with Earth.
Repeat your intention silently to yourself a few times.
Bring your intention wholeheartedly into your awareness.
Breathe a long,
Slow breath.
With a long,
Slow breath comprised of the five elements.
Space element allows for your lungs to expand.
Fire element moves in and out as you breathe.
Water element provides the heartbeat synchronizing with your lungs.
Water element makes the whole rhythm smooth.
And Earth element carries the sense that reach you.
All five elements are breathing you.
Feel your eyes.
Your lips.
The top and back of your head.
Your entire head.
Feel your ears.
Neck.
Shoulders.
Heart space.
Arms.
Hands.
Feel your belly.
Hips.
Back of your hips.
Legs and feet.
Feel your whole body.
As you breathe and sense,
Notice the element of space around you.
Notice where space and your body connect.
Notice any whisper of air or wind,
Including the movement of your exhalations out your nose.
Notice warmth.
Fire element is in both your heartbeat and the warmth you feel in your skin.
Notice water element.
The moisture in your mouth or your eyes.
The carrier of blood and digestion in your body.
Notice water element.
Notice Earth element.
That which builds you.
Every part that you can feel.
The elements express themselves with particular qualities.
Notice how these qualities arise in thought,
Feeling,
And emotion.
Allow these manifestations to arise in your awareness without judgment.
The qualities that the elements arise in are light and heavy.
Sharp and dull.
Hot and cold.
Oily and dry.
Rough and smooth.
Liquid and dense.
Hard and soft.
Movement and stability.
Subtle and physical.
Clear and cloudy.
Now paint a picture of a nature scene where you feel aligned with the natural world.
It can be one you know or one you imagine.
As this scene takes shape in your mind,
Paint the details of space element.
How is space element present?
Is it in a vast sky or the spaces between leaves?
How is air element present?
Is there a gentle breeze or leaves fluttering?
How is fire element present?
In a warm temperature or a crackling fire?
How is water element present?
In a body of water or a feature like a birdbath?
How is earth element present?
In the lush greenery of plants or sand beneath your feet?
Once you paint in the details of your nature scene,
Keep breathing it into your awareness for a few quiet moments.
Intense birth and life's Allow your nature scene to diffuse.
Feel your body.
Only repeat your intention to yourself.
Yoga Nidra connects us with the enduring spirit behind everything.
And it can also connect us to nature,
Of which we are a part.
As you move back into your life,
Do so with an awareness of spirit and nature.
Now ends your Yoga Nidra practice.
