Welcome.

I'm Kate Colby Nelson,

And this is a short centering meditation,

Intended to provide a pause,

A rest,

A reset for the nervous system,

A return to the quietude at the center of your being,

That center of your being that is always abiding,

Always present,

And awaiting recognition.

So I invite you now to make yourself exquisitely comfortable,

Taking these next few minutes to just center,

Moving into a state of generous receptivity,

Becoming completely present,

Fully here in this now moment.

And if you haven't already done so,

Just gently flutter the eyelids closed.

Begin to slow and deepen the breath,

Becoming aware of the breath,

The feel of the breath,

The rhythm of the breath,

Awareness of the breath.

And now move your awareness to the center of your heart,

To the unstruct center of your being.

And feel as though you are breathing through the center of your heart,

As if the heart itself is breathing,

As if the heart itself is breathing you.

The Sufi poet Rumi said,

There is a voice that uses no words.

Listen.

As you breathe into your heart,

As you allow the heart to breathe you.

Listen.

Begin to listen to the message of your heart,

Opening to its deep and expansive peace.

Listen to the heart's wisdom within you,

Those words within you are always enough.

Your grace is your sufficiency.

Listening carefully for the voice that uses no words.

As you continue to breathe through the heart,

Allowing the heart to breathe you.

Open a screen of your mind.

Create a screen of awareness in the space between the brows.

Wide open space,

Wide open and receptive to seeing with the inner eyes.

From this place of open receptivity on the vast screen of your consciousness,

The screen of your consciousness in the space between your brows.

See a grove of trees,

Hundreds of trees,

A light with millions of leaves.

These leaves crisp in their stunning,

Vibrant fall color.

Each leaf waiting to let go of their hold,

Waiting to let go of their hold from their branch.

With the eyes of your mind in the screen of your consciousness,

See these leaves rich in a nominal variance,

Waiting quietly.

Imagine them peacefully listening to the voice that uses no words.

Imagine you are now standing in this grove of trees,

Surrounded by these beautiful trees,

Standing on a carpet of fallen leaves,

So thick they are ankle high.

The sky is blue,

Halcyon blue,

The air is crisp,

And rays of sunlight are illuminating the golds,

Reds,

And yellows,

Magnifying and multiplying the intensity of these rich colors,

Each facet of luminosity meeting another,

Like stained glass windows,

Here in this magnificent cathedral of nature.

Out of the corner of your eye,

You catch a very large,

Beautiful,

And unique golden leaf.

It's moving now,

Trembling in the crisp gentle breeze.

It is lit from within,

And you can see every vein and detail of its shimmering body.

It is so peaceful here,

Just watching this leaf.

There is no time,

Only a deep sense of well-being,

Breathing a little deeper,

A little slower,

As you observe this leaf,

Listening,

Listening to that voice that has no words.

And then it happens.

This large,

Luminescent,

Golden,

Deeply veined leaf sails from its branch.

It just lets go.

It surfs gently through the air,

As if in very slow motion,

Moving down to the earth,

Becoming one with the carpet of fallen leaves.

It is fully committed to resting here,

Fully committed to the wholeness of life,

Trusting this season,

This cycle,

This moment of good in the eternality of time.

This leaf is one with all that is,

One with the voice that has no words.

Breathe in this witnessing moment,

Taking it into the center of your being,

Into the center of your heart.

Let yourself fall in this moment.

Let yourself fall onto the carpet of life and settle,

Settle quietly into this profound peace,

This peace that passes all understanding,

Knowing that all is truly well.

Breathing in and out of the heart center,

Say so gently to yourself,

In the voice of your mind,

There is a voice within me that uses no words and I am always listening.

Swaha.

And so it is.
