This gentle meditation explores, in a curious way, the pauses between each breath. Just a short five-minute practice to allow you to slow down and notice your breath. After coming to stillness you will then spend some time breathing and noticing what is always there.

Sitting in your chair or on your cushion,

Your spine is nice and straight,

Eyes gently closed.

Just begin to focus on your breath.

Allow your shoulders to relax.

Make sure your jaw is relaxed.

With every exhalation you let go a little more each time.

You are just gently breathing in and breathing out.

Waiting for the next breath to come.

Knowing that it will always come.

Breathing and pausing and waiting.

You are just focusing on your breath and noticing the pauses between the breaths.

You are learning to trust your breath.

So all you are doing is gently breathing in and out.

Pausing and waiting.

Waiting for the next breath to come.

Keep doing this for as long as you wish and over time increase the length of time that you spend doing this peaceful,

Simple exercise.

Noticing the pause between the breaths.

When you are ready,

Gently bring yourself back into the present moment.

Breathe deeply and open your eyes.
