This guided meditation is an exercise that allows you to be more mindful and accepting of thought.
We cannot stop our minds and thoughts from happening.
But we can learn to watch our thoughts without judgement and help to clear our minds sufficiently to find inner stillness.
To be more in tune with ourselves.
To simply be.
And now I invite you to picture a lovely stream.
It is clear and surrounded by a mossy bank with fragrant flowers growing alongside the bank.
Their scent catching the breeze and drifting their sweet smell towards you.
All around you are beautiful trees.
Their leaves are gently falling from them into the stream.
Just imagine now that when you notice a thought arise in your mind,
Picture the thought as a leaf from the tree.
Gently falling,
Spiraling and landing in the stream and floating away.
If you no longer want this thought,
Imagine you are watching it gently bob downstream until you can no longer see it.
Maybe it has turned a corner and gone.
Some of your thoughts will appear as words,
Some as pictures.
But whatever form your thoughts take,
Just picture them as leaves and watch them go.
As you gaze up into the sky,
You watch the leaves gently tumbling down,
Falling.
The air is warm and still and you feel a sense of calm and inner peace.
Do not try to control your thoughts,
Just notice and witness.
No judgement,
No self-criticism in any way.
Simply acknowledge and accept and just let them go.
And now let go of the leaves and the stream and just focus for a few moments on your breath.
And slowly,
In your own time,
When you are ready,
Be aware of the chair underneath you,
Supporting you.
Take a nice slow deep breath and when you are ready,
Open your eyes.
