Today,
We'll explore how to move beyond tolerance or self-improvement and into true friendship with ourselves.
Before we begin,
Take a moment to get still.
Find a comfortable seat,
Or lie down if that feels better.
Let your eyes soften or close.
We'll take three audible breaths together,
In through the nose,
Out through the mouth.
Let the exhale be full and open.
This kind of breathing helps calm the nervous system and signals to the body,
You're safe.
You're here.
You can let go.
Inhale through the nose.
Exhale through the mouth.
Again,
Inhale and exhale.
One more breath in,
And let it go.
From this quiet place,
I offer you these words.
Dear Higher Power,
I've spent so long fighting parts of myself,
Trying to be better,
Different,
More lovable.
But today,
I want to try something radical.
I want to become my own friend.
Help me offer myself the kindness I extend so easily to others.
Help me be patient when I stumble.
Help me enjoy my own company,
Without judgment.
Let friendship with myself be steady and soft,
A quiet loyalty,
A gentle presence,
A safe place to land.
I may not love every part of me yet,
But I can start with respect,
With curiosity.
May I keep showing up for myself,
The way a true friend would.
I leave this in your hands.
