Start Here: A Yoga Course For Beginners

With Kari Doherty

This five-day video course is designed for anyone who has never done yoga before or who has tried it and felt lost, intimidated, or out of place. Each session builds on the last, so by day five, you will have learned a complete foundational practice you can return to anytime. Days one through four are approximately 10 minutes each. The final session is a 20-minute restorative floor practice, a gentle landing place at the end of the week. What you'll learn: child's pose, cat-cow, downward-facing dog, ragdoll, halfway lift, high mountain pose, a basic sun salutation, supine hip openers, and savasana. Each session emphasizes breath awareness and sensation, two foundational skills that make yoga accessible and meaningful beyond the mat. No prior experience required. A yoga mat is helpful. Blocks are optional but recommended.

Lesson 3

Moving With Your Breath

Today, you will learn your first sun salutation, a sequence of poses linked together with breath. The focus is less on getting it right and more on what it feels like to let your breath lead your movement. This is where yoga begins to flow.

Lesson 4

Putting It All Together

This session brings everything you have learned into one continuous flow. Child's pose, cat-cow, sun salutations: it all connects here. By the end of today's practice, you will have moved through a complete sequence on your own, breath by breath.

Lesson 5

Rest, Receive, and Begin Again

The final session slows everything down. This 20-minute restorative practice includes supine hip openers, gentle twists, fish pose, and savasana: a chance to let your body absorb everything from the week. This is where the practice lands.
