Good evening.

My name is Karen Boss,

And tonight I'll be guiding you on a journey to a magical old library.

This library holds the stories and secrets of magic.

You know that words are powerful and transforming.

You want to see these special books for yourself and experience the magic as you scan and release all tension in your body.

Before drifting off into a deep and restful night's sleep,

This meditation is a deep sleep story and body scan that will guide you into a deep and restful sleep.

There is no better gift of healing than restorative deep sleep.

As you begin to relax and find yourself in a soothing environment,

Find yourself in a comfortable position,

One that is ready and offering you a time of relaxation.

As you start taking deeper breaths,

Notice that each breath out releases tension,

And with each breath in,

You invite more relaxation.

Releasing tension and inviting in peace with each breath you gift your body.

As you become deeper into this relaxation,

You can feel all parts of yourself connecting.

Body,

Mind,

And spirit.

Your breath is a natural connector of everything within you.

It is source energy,

A rhythmic healing force,

Always available to you.

Let your breath slow your mind.

You place all thoughts to the back of your mind.

Breathing in and expanding.

Breathing out and releasing.

Breathing in deeply and exhaling.

Releasing any tension those thoughts have left with you.

There is no need to cling on to any of these thoughts.

Just observe them.

You may give them time on another day.

Imagine wrapping each thought that is holding your focus in a bubble of light.

Knowing that it is safe and will not be forgotten.

You are simply placing it aside for a time you can give your full attention to it.

It is not needed right now.

This is your time.

You deserve this time of deep sleep.

You may have already closed your eyes.

If not,

I invite you to close your eyes.

Try to keep them closed and gently focused up and in at the brow point.

Inhale and hold your breath for a moment.

Good.

Pressing the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth.

Good.

This actually places your jaw in alignment and releases any tightness you are holding onto there.

Inhaling,

Holding,

And exhaling.

You are inviting in vitality and healing.

Breathing in physical restoration and exhaling tension and dis-ease.

Powerful.

Meditation is the practice of allowing stress to slowly leave your system and giving your body and mind a chance to heal.

Breathe.

Deepening your experiences in life.

Living a life with more fulfillment.

Breathe.

Letting go.

Allowing space for wonder and gratitude as you rest deeper and deeper into this meditation.

Now,

As you continue to breathe,

Bring your awareness to your feet.

Feel your feet as they rest.

Allow your feet to feel heavy in your mind.

Tell your feet to relax.

Notice how all the muscles in your feet seem to soften as you suggest this.

Bring your attention up to your legs.

Feel your legs under you,

Supporting you in the place you are in.

Allow your legs to become heavy.

Allow your legs to relax and soften.

Tell yourself,

My legs are relaxed.

Move your attention up to your hips.

Rocking them gently side to side.

Your torso.

Your belly rising and falling with each breath.

Your chest.

Feel the air on your inhalation move through your chest and into your belly.

Feel any tension and stress dissolve.

This may take a few deep breaths to shift and dissolve.

That is ok.

All is as it should be.

Now your shoulders.

Gently roll them back.

Yes,

Your body is beginning to relax.

And get ready for a deep rest.

Tell all your muscles to lengthen and relax.

Feel the tension in those places melt away.

Now move your attention to your fingers and your hands.

Gently wiggle your fingers.

Now feel them become heavier as they seem to melt.

Let all the tension in your hand drain out.

Feel your fingers and hands softening.

Bring your attention to your neck.

Tell all of the tension in your neck to melt away.

Feel your neck muscles relax and soften.

You can gently move your neck from side to side.

Now breathe in for 4 counts.

1,

2,

3,

4.

Holding for 4 counts.

1,

2,

3,

4.

And releasing for 4 counts.

1,

2,

3,

4.

Now bring your energy to your face and head.

Gently move your jaw around.

Feel the muscles in your face start to relax.

Notice your jaw drop open as the tension there is released.

Feel yourself soften and let go of all the tension your body is holding.

Enjoy this relaxed and peaceful feeling.

If you haven't closed your eyes,

I invite you to do so.

Imagine in your mind a library.

The kind of library that is beautiful,

Old,

And holds a lot of meaning.

Books of all kinds from all places.

Artists,

Poets,

And scholars come to this library for inspiration and deeper understandings of the world.

Tonight,

You are going to visit this remarkable library.

You have heard so much about this library.

You may have seen pictures,

And you have heard stories of the transformation that seems to happen when people visit.

You are excited and curious to visit this place.

As you approach the stone steps,

You marvel at the grand,

Timeless entrance,

The curved arch over the heavy,

Wooden door.

You see engravings in the stone building,

And you wonder of the people that have crossed through this threshold before.

You can already feel the magic present in this place.

It is evening hours,

And the entrance is lit by old lanterns.

You open the door,

And before you,

A great hall opens.

It is breathtaking.

The painted ceilings,

The very height of the ceilings,

And from the top floor to main floor,

Shelves and shelves of books.

The library is quiet,

And you can see there are a few people at tables,

Mesmerized by their books.

Such a remarkable place of grandness,

And only in a few people.

The air,

The space,

The place,

Breathe it in deeply.

It is warm inside,

And you begin to relax into this space.

You can feel you are welcome here.

You are meant to be here.

The feeling of having one foot in the past,

And one in the present,

Moves through you.

This is a timeless space.

You walk further into the library.

The floor is a beautiful mosaic,

Like a piece of art in itself.

There is a clock on the wall near you,

And a desk.

You look up and notice the ceiling is a mixture of windows and paintings.

How would the great artists of the past been able to paint such wonder so high?

All of these books,

On all of these floors,

Where do you begin?

You know you can sign books out,

But you simply can't wait.

You plan on sitting down somewhere and reading right here in this space.

You are warming to the space,

And begin to feel an energy present,

Like a humming moving you along.

The lady at the checkout desk smiles at you as you keep moving deeper into the library.

You know where you are going.

Somehow you know this place.

You approach a winding staircase.

The railing is a beautiful ornate carving,

So smooth against your hand.

You move up the stairs,

One step at a time,

To the first floor.

You can smell the scent of old books,

The spines of each book naming another title,

Another story,

Another adventure.

This library has every kind of book it seems,

From newer paperbacks to leather-bound handmade paper.

Your hand runs along the shelves as you walk down an aisle.

You turn a corner and find yourself in your favorite section.

You smile.

Whatever worries,

Thoughts,

Or plans you had when you came into this library,

They've disappeared.

Your mind is open.

Your spirit is clear.

Your body feels so relaxed.

Breathe.

Breathe this moment in.

You are ready.

You are open for what this library has for you.

You decide to let your hand choose.

You run your hand over the books as you slowly move.

You do this until your hand comes to a book that feels different,

Warm,

Maybe even buzzing with energy.

Pull that book out.

This book is calling to you.

You can feel yourself relaxing deeper.

You are getting warmer and more comfortable in this space.

You look around and see that you are alone,

With this book in this space.

There is a big old leather chair near you.

Go ahead and sit down.

Let your body be held by the chair,

Supported,

So comfortable.

You are warm and comfortable and alone to explore what this book holds for you.

Let your body let go into this moment.

Breathe.

Breathe in the warmth of this moment.

Exhale.

You glide your hand over the smooth cover.

You have chosen a special handcrafted book.

You open the first pages.

Your eyes feel heavy.

You begin to read.

And your eyes feel heavier and heavier.

You rest your hands on the book.

The words seem to be lifting,

Swirling,

Moving from the page.

Your eyes are resting.

And you begin to drift,

Drift,

As the words move from the book into you.

You can feel your head supported now.

You begin to hear the voice of a storyteller.

It is as though the words are merging with you,

And a voice is reading them to you alone.

You are enjoying this book so much.

You are so comfortable and peaceful.

The story is telling you something,

Sharing knowledge you are meant to know.

It is all good.

Your thoughts begin to live inside the story too.

It is like your thoughts and the book are sharing a dance.

With ease,

Your thoughts become one with the book.

Your mind and body and spirit are so relaxed,

Safe,

And warm.

Enjoy this time in the library.

You are drifting now into a relaxed sleep.

You are meant to be here right now.

This is your deep sleep tonight.

You can always come back here whenever you want.

For now,

Enjoy this place you are in.

Inhaling and exhaling.

Count from 1 to 5,

And allow yourself to fall deeper and deeper into sleep.

1.

Softly focus on the number 1.

Take a deep breath in and let it all go.

You are inviting good dreams tonight.

2.

You are feeling more and more relaxed.

You are looking forward to a nice,

Deep sleep.

Your mind is starting to find a place of stillness.

Positive thoughts are filling your head.

3.

You are drifting now.

Your body is ready to take a break.

You are feeling safe,

Drifting.

4.

So calm.

Ready for the magic of sleep.

5.

Breathe softly.

You are ready to drift off and float away into dreamland.

Feel how heavy your eyelids feel.

Your body is warm and safe.

So comfortable.

You are drifting.

Feeling yourself drift and drift and drift into your deserved rest.

Breathing in slowly and releasing.

Hearing the sounds now slowly fade as you rest into a deep sleep.
