Welcome to this guided meditation to help you unwind from the day and drift into a deep and comforting sleep.
Start by listening to the sound of my voice and take a moment to let go of the day.
Identify anything you are still holding onto that you no longer need for this night.
See if you can let it drift off into the night sky.
And start to focus your attention on your breath,
Just noticing the air flowing in and out.
Feel the cool temperature of the inhale and the warmth of the exhale.
Just notice that.
And see if you can deepen the breath,
Breathing deep down to the bottom of the belly,
Expanding and releasing.
Up and down,
In and out.
And begin to imagine that your breath is like an ocean wave,
The exhale releasing the wave and crashing against the shore.
And the inhale with the retreating water,
Just continue to fill your lungs with air.
And let the wave crash as you breathe it out,
Rocking your body slowly and gently.
And now see if you can notice any thoughts or worries that have been causing you difficulty today.
Just tune into your thoughts,
And see if you can observe them from a distance.
Just let them be as they are for this moment.
See if you can release any tension related to these thoughts you've been holding onto as the exhale crash of the wave,
Letting it flow against the shore,
Allowing your body to settle into peace.
Feeling the surface you are sitting on as it supports you,
And maybe gently placing a hand over your heart,
Feeling the soft beat,
Thumping gently in your chest.
Just tune into that,
Your body's natural soft rhythm comforting you.
And see if you can allow that to help you drift slowly into a calm rest.
Take this time to soak in the stillness,
Just noticing the sound of your heartbeat and the waves of your breath.
And prepare to settle in gently for a good night's rest.
