Welcome to this guided meditation for connecting to the grounding energy of Earth.
Earth is calming,
Steadying,
Ever-present.
It's slow and heavy,
Sure of itself,
Confident.
If you're feeling stressed,
Distracted,
Irritated,
Angry or afraid,
Earth can help you come back home.
Feel free to take this meditation seated or laying down.
I'd recommend having your feet planted firmly on the ground beneath you if you're seated.
You could also lay on your belly on the Earth,
Or take Child's Pose,
Which I'll explain in a moment.
Automatically,
These shapes will help you connect more deeply to the Earth beneath you.
If you would like to try Child's Pose,
Come to kneeling with your toes untucked and your knees wider than your shoulders.
Sit back on your heels and fold down so that your forehead can touch the Earth.
You can reach your arms forward if you like or rest them at your sides.
You may also need your hands under your forehead.
You can widen or narrow your knees according to your comfort.
Take a couple of deep breaths if that feels right.
Let your breath move down into your belly if that's possible right now.
If it's not,
That's okay.
It will likely come as we invite this Earth energy.
Now consider the land that you are on,
Your relationship with this land.
How did you get here?
Where is your family from?
Who has been on this land before you got here?
How do you feel about this place and the world,
The season,
The weather today,
The phase of the moon?
Now imagine a circle of protection around you,
Perhaps of salt,
Which represents the Earth element.
Only energies that are in alignment with your highest good are welcome here,
And all others are simply filtered out.
You may wish to call in energies of calm,
Connection,
Safety,
Comfort,
And clarity.
See what other intentions are there for you.
What would you like to call in as you connect to the element of Earth?
Notice the parts of your body that are already connected to the Earth,
The parts of your body that are currently in contact with the ground or the floor,
The solidity of your bones,
The way gravity holds you gently,
Keeping you connected here.
Imagine that the parts of your body that are closest to the Earth could grow roots,
Gentle tendrils reaching out into the Earth below you,
Connecting you to the powerful,
Old,
Wide Earth,
Which has seen so much more than your mind could ever even imagine.
Trust in the wisdom of this Earth energy.
Reach down and feel those roots connecting.
These roots can release what's not needed,
What's not yours,
What's not important.
They can also draw nourishment up through them.
This nourishment is loving and calm.
It is connected to everything,
The web of the larger world,
All of its love and growth and potential.
Through these roots you can connect to the trees that can care for you in this moment,
The ones that have the wisdom and the space and time and calm to connect with you.
You may simply want to breathe with these great,
Wise trees.
You may need to talk to them,
Tell them how you're feeling,
What you need and whatever else you want to say.
They will simply listen.
There's nothing you can say that will shock or scare them.
They can hold all of it with the gentle power of the ancient Earth.
And check back in with your belly.
Notice if your breath is willing to move a little lower down now.
If you can relax the belly a little bit more,
Feeling it softer and lower to the ground.
Take a deeper breath if you'd like to.
Now remember your connection to air through your breath.
Remember fire and the electricity between yourselves,
Your ability to move,
The flowing water in your body.
Feel all the elements connected and balanced in your body.
When you feel ready,
You can begin to gently move your body in the ways that feel best to you.
Slowly make your way back up to a seat if you're not there already.
If you've been in child's pose,
You may want to stretch and shake your legs.
Notice how you may feel different now from how you felt when we began our meditation.
Enjoy your connection to Earth and all the elements throughout the rest of your day.
