Welcome,

I'm Joy.

I'll be guiding you through this meditation and visualization to let go,

To find confidence and to move forward.

When we are able to visualize our path,

It allows our mind and emotions to release our burdens and create new and positive outcomes for our future selves.

We can look ahead with new purpose and focus not constrained by our current situations.

We are free to dream,

Expanding our opportunities for ourselves,

Allowing us to see ourselves in new possibilities.

So,

As we get started,

I invite you to find yourself a comfortable position for this meditation.

Cover yourself with a blanket if you'd like to stay warm and cozy,

Add pillows or perhaps an eye mask to enhance your experience.

Reposition your body as you'd like to deepen your relaxation and surrender more fully.

Take a moment to adjust your arms and your legs.

Soften your hands and your feet and allow the body to be just a bit heavier and weighted in place.

Breathe deeply.

Exhale fully.

If you haven't already,

Soften your gaze or close your eyes to focus more fully on your body's experience.

Your eyes can become heavy.

Any tension you may notice in your forehead softens.

Allow the muscles in your cheeks to release any tension.

Open and close your mouth,

Moving your lower jaw from side to side.

Notice and release any stiffness if you hold any resistance in a clenched jaw.

Breathe deeply.

Fill your body,

Expand and be open.

Open your heart.

Open your mind.

Soften your body.

Relax more deeply.

Let go.

As you settle in even more,

You feel your feet connected to the ground.

Visualize yourself just gently moving your toes,

Wiggling your toes where they are.

Visualize yourself wiggling your toes and soft,

Warm sand beneath your feet.

You begin to move your feet a little more into the granules,

Making little pockets of sand for your feet to slip into.

As you look at your feet and the wiggling toes,

The soft sand moving from side to side,

You begin to lift your gaze and see yourself in a desert with warm sunshine and white sand.

A gentle breeze blows across,

Ruffling your hair and cooling your skin.

The sky is an azure blue with white clouds lifted high and floating above.

And as you look out at your beautiful surroundings,

You notice a set of footprints leading to the top of a nearby dune.

Curious,

You continue to search the ridge of the dune and you see a traveler,

A nomad,

Standing at the peak.

He speaks no words to you.

He makes no movements,

But his gaze is penetrating and seemingly invites you to follow him.

And as he turns and descends the far side of the dune,

You stand and begin to follow.

You walk gently through the soft sand,

Your footprints side by side with the travelers.

As you crest the peak of the dune,

You see his footprints continue across the sand and you continue to walk behind them,

Feeling a connection to this traveler you've never met.

As you continue to walk,

You notice your pace begins to slow and you become aware of a weight that you are carrying.

Your journey is becoming more difficult.

The pack on your back becoming more and more heavy,

More and more cumbersome,

Weighing you down as you walk through the shifting sands.

You aren't sure where the pack came from or why you're carrying such a heavy load,

But you continue to walk following the traveler,

Following his footsteps,

Feeling a sense of trust,

A sense of belonging,

A sense of comfort and ease.

As you reach the next peak,

Your body aches under the weight of the pack and you are ready to be free of the pack and its contents.

At this peak,

You notice a bridge stretched before you over a deep chasm.

At the other end of the bridge,

You again see the traveler and behind him is a lush and tropical oasis,

Palm trees and pools of water.

At first,

You are uncertain if this is a mirage or if it actually exists,

But as you have come to trust the traveler,

You realize that this oasis is real and it is meant for you.

To reach this beautiful respite,

You need only cross the narrow bridge.

The pack is continuing to grow heavier and is holding you back from this desert paradise.

As you decide to walk across the bridge,

The traveler disappears into the oasis.

To cross the bridge safely,

You decide it best to leave the pack behind.

You realize you no longer need to carry the weight and struggle,

That this is an opportunity to travel without the unnecessary burdens.

You release the pack from your back and place it on the ground at the foot of the bridge and you begin the walk across.

As you glance back,

You see the pack sink into the sand,

Disappearing from sight.

You realize you were never meant to be burdened by this weight.

You were never meant to struggle with all that it contained.

And now you are free indeed of that weight that you have been carrying for so long.

As you continue your walk across the bridge,

You refocus and look forward,

Fixing your sights on the oasis.

As you begin to gently step across the bridge,

You notice that it seems a little unstable.

It seems precarious.

But you trust the traveler and continue your journey across.

The bridge sways with each step.

But as you find your balance,

Feet on the planks and hands on the ropes,

You notice they become more sturdy with each step.

The planks begin to feel more firm.

The bridge feels more stable.

And the ropes become wooden handrails beneath your hands.

You continue your journey and you feel safe and confident as you continue to walk towards the oasis.

You feel the fears and the doubts begin to dissipate.

When you reach the other side,

The traveler is at the edge of the pool of water.

He smiles at you and gestures for you to enter the pool.

As you walk closer to the pool,

The traveler fades into the lush garden,

Leaving you in solitude.

When you get closer to the water's edge,

You see the pool is crystal clear with a waterfall flowing into it.

And you are mesmerized by the beauty of your surroundings.

You remove your shoes and dip your toes into the cool and refreshing water.

Slowly,

You begin to walk into the still waters.

And as the water deepens,

You lean back and begin to float,

Letting go.

Your arms move slowly by your side,

And your feet flutter,

Creating a little ripple and awake.

You enjoy the silky movement of the water,

The splash of the waterfall,

And the sound of the leaves rustling in the breeze.

You feel light,

Safe.

You feel happy and energized.

You feel free.

Relax into these feelings.

Let them settle deeper.

Your mind drifts,

As does your body in the pool.

Your thoughts are clear.

They are focused.

You have a level of creativity you haven't felt in a very long time.

Relax into these feelings.

And let them settle deeper.

You allow yourself to float a little while longer,

Being filled with new positivity,

With fresh ideas,

With a renewed sense of purpose.

Relax into these feelings.

And let them settle deeper.

It feels good.

It feels right.

As the sun begins to dip below the trees,

And the air becomes cooler,

You are ready to leave the crystal pool,

Leave the refreshing waters,

And to begin your next steps with joy and confidence.

And when you look around to thank the traveler for bringing you to this place,

You find he has gone.

He has led you through the desert to this wonderful place where you could choose to be free.

He was then able to step back and allow you time to find your own way.

To find your path without the burden of the past.

To find your happiness moving forward.

And to find your future without limits.

As we begin to close our time together and finalize this meditation,

Please allow yourself to begin to make small movements.

Allow your body to breathe more deeply.

And when you are ready,

Allow your eyes to flutter open and step into your new future.
