This is a five-minute meditation that will give you space and encouragement while you enter into the spontaneity of the present moment through presence and being.
Just allowing yourself to sit comfortably,
Putting your hands on your lap or on your knees,
Feeling upright in your body,
Eyes closed or gently open,
Looking a few feet in front of you.
And as you tune into your breath,
Perhaps you can envisage that as you breathe in,
Your breath goes up the back of your body,
Over your head,
And as you breathe out,
The breath comes down the front,
Going under,
Breathing in,
Up the back,
Shoulders,
Neck,
Over the head,
Down the face,
The throat,
Heart,
Abdomen,
And going under,
And breathing in,
Up the back,
Over your head,
Breathing out,
Down the front.
Just taking another couple of breaths like this,
And then returning to your natural breath at your abdomen,
Becoming aware of the feeling of your mind,
The feeling of your emotions,
The feeling of your body,
And noticing where you are in relation to mind,
Emotions,
Body.
Are you pushing into them?
Are you pulling away?
And rather than meeting this with any thought of change,
Or of judgement or criticism,
We simply just let all that drop,
Just let everything drop,
And merely feel the mind as energy,
The emotions as energy.
Just let go of any difficulty in the body as energy,
Even letting go of the self-talk in the mind,
Or just feeling the energy of it,
And noticing as we do this,
We come into a sense of our being within,
A sense of what comes before this movement of forms in the mind and feelings.
Letting go,
But feeling safe because we're resting into being,
The security of the sense of being.
Sitting like this,
There's a chance to rest and to reset so that we can meet the situations of our lives with much greater intelligence drawn from within.
Resting back,
And your sense of being.
