Hello beautiful souls,
This is June B and welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June B.
Join me as I take a walk in this soothing forest.
So let's get into your favorite sleeping position.
Make sure you're comfortable.
Close your eyes.
And slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing.
Going down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Last time breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe out.
So here I am in the woods,
Making my way to get back to this little cabin I'm staying in.
The sun has been shining all day and the ground is dry.
As I'm walking along I hear my footsteps along the ground,
Crisp and soft.
Can you hear them?
After being in the woods all day it's getting dark now and oh my it looks like it's going to rain.
Here we go.
I'll have to take shelter under this big tree with some broad leaves until it stops.
Listen to the rain falling.
So the rain was just falling and the ground smells so sweet.
That smell of dark earth and green leaves.
That familiar smell of nature.
Green and cooling.
As the sun sets the air takes on this cooler and sweeter scent.
I continue to walk through the woods to get back to where I'm staying.
As I walk along the woods I hear the crickets and other animals in this beautiful forest.
I am not afraid.
I know that I am safe here and everything I encounter is here to share the beauty that lies around me.
So making my way deeper into this beautiful place I pick up on the sights first.
We are all visual people and can you see what I see?
Let me tell you and you can join me right here right now.
Firstly look at the trees.
They are so tall and when I look up I can almost see the tops of the highest branches.
They are up so high.
Can you see the branches now?
So high up that they are slightly blurred.
Well that is what I see as I look up anyway.
Now allowing my eyes to run down this magnificent tree that is before me I see this huge trunk.
Walking towards this particular tree I stop at the trunk and gently run my hand along it.
It feels brittle in some places and in others rough to the touch and has a kind of pattern within the uniqueness that is no pattern at all.
Bumps and grooves,
Moss and hard bark,
That's what I can see and feel.
There are dark parts to the bark and smooth parts to it as well.
All in many shades of brown and beige.
At one point there is a cut in the trunk and there is a kind of gum that has come out of that cut which seals it from anything untoward getting into it.
Nature always has a way of protecting itself at all turns of life.
Then there are different parts to the bark that are so light in colour that they almost look silver.
These parts are looking like they are ready to flake off and reveal a new and more sturdy part of the trunk underneath.
This is akin to us shedding our skin I suppose and there being a beautiful new layer underneath.
Just waiting to have its turn in the spotlight.
Now the earth soft beneath my feet.
I have taken my shoes off and I am allowing the earth to rub between my toes.
It is soft and cool to touch.
Can you see my feet?
Full of earth.
Sprinkled with this life giving substance that is the foundation for everything in this forest.
Or without it how would the seeds germinate?
Having this amazing earth that has so many nutrients in it allows life to form in a matter of hours,
Days and weeks.
I kneel down and pick up a handful of earth.
I rub it between my fingers.
Can you see it?
Can you imagine how it feels?
Well if I had to liken it to something I would say it feels like dark molasses sugar.
That dark brown sugar that has a small amount of granules to its texture.
So soft and smooth enough to fall gently through your fingers when you touch it.
So this is how the earth looks and feels to me.
There is a brook to my side and I am walking over there now.
The water is finding its way along this brook with great efficiency.
No stopping the flow of this beautiful brook.
Look at the water with me.
The droplets dancing a dance as they hurtle down the path that it has cut out for itself.
The millions of drops of water that make up this active and fascinating brook bubble and dance away until out of sight.
Taking a stick I have found lying on the ground.
I go to the side and place the stick in the water.
The droplets don't know any different.
They keep going and finding a way around this object which they don't even acknowledge.
The water rushes past in the flicker of an eye.
Not even looking back to say hey,
Why was that stick there?
Going along its path without a care in the world and without even stopping.
As the water keeps going I now see something out the corner of my eye moving.
As I look I see one of the many crickets looking up at me and rubbing its parts to make that chirping sound.
That's how we know it's them.
Their distinct sound is unmistakable and a big contribution to this amazing scene that is unfolding before my very eyes.
Looking up in the tree I see some birds.
They are clearly having a conversation with each other and their songs are irreplaceable to me.
Their uniqueness is unparalleled and their beauty underappreciated.
The sound is amazing and goes deep into my being.
Sitting here for only a few moments fills me with such peace and tranquility.
How could I want for more at this time?
Nature at its best.
Thanks for being here with me for a while.
It has been such a wonderful experience taking you with me on my walk amongst the woods.
Looking at all the beauty that surrounds us here and listening to the bubbling brook,
Crickets and birds as night falls.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away have yourself a great night's sleep and looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.
Good night!
