Hello beautiful souls,
This is June Bee and welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June Bee.
Today we will be sitting comfortably indoors and looking out the window as it is raining outside.
So let's get into your favourite sleeping position,
Make sure you're comfortable,
Close your eyes,
Axe your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time breathe in,
Breathe out.
I was at my desk and doing some work when the heavens opened up and it started to rain.
It has been really hot here in the UK,
Actually they said it was a heat wave.
Days and days that went into weeks and weeks of glorious sunshine and after about three weeks of amazing weather the heavens decided it is time to nourish the earth again with this life-giving substance,
Water.
It is chucking it down,
It's raining cats and dogs as we say in the UK.
I have my window slightly open without getting wet and I'm watching as the cars pass by and people try to go about their daily chores in the rain.
You know there are drivers who take pleasure in driving even faster in the rain.
I can never wrap my head around that mentally because when there is water on the road that is the time to slow down and take it easy because you know the car's reaction time will be hampered by the water on the road.
No schooling some people though,
Right?
So I'm watching this lady across the road.
There is some greenery across the road from me and many people take their dogs for a walk there.
So this lady who I have seen on many occasions has her dog with her as usual.
The funny thing about today is today of all days she has her dog in a child's buggy and she is pushing it around.
Now forgive me if I'm wrong,
Isn't the whole point of taking a dog for a walk is for the dog to actually walk?
Oh my,
What a sight to see.
When I first saw this lady I thought she was taking her grandchild for a walk in the park.
Curious as us humans are,
I peeped into the buggy as she passed me one day to see the lovely baby's face only to be confronted with a pug dog.
Wow,
What a shock that was.
According to Wikipedia a pug is a breed of dog originally from China with physically distinctive features of a wrinkly short muzzled face and a curled tail.
Well,
Let me tell you as I looked at this dog I couldn't help but smile.
The dog was looking at me with its little pink tongue hanging out as if it was sticking its tongue out at me.
Oh,
I tried to hold things in.
Then when she passed and was far enough away that she couldn't hear me I burst out laughing.
Oh,
How funny for this lady to be pushing around a pug in a baby stroller.
I think I've seen it all.
So back to today looking out the window and this lady is pushing the dog through the park and it is pouring down with rain.
She can't walk fast and so slowly she is pushing the buggy and it looks like she's getting wetter and wetter with every step she takes.
She even has a little roof sheltering him and an umbrella over the dog and she herself is getting soaked.
Oh,
How people love their dogs in the UK and around the world.
The next person I see as I look out the window is a young boy who I think works at a local store.
Now he is on the hustle and ready to get wherever he is going like yesterday.
He is walking so fast it is almost fast enough to be a run moving at top pelt as I like to say and nobody is getting in his way.
He is on a mission and I don't blame him for trying to get out of this rain as it is starting to come down even heavier now.
Next there is a bus passing my window.
It is packed to capacity and some of the windows are steamed up.
I get this fleeting look at the passengers as the bus passes by and can only imagine what some of these people must be thinking.
Thinking of times in the past or future,
Of sunny holidays and spending time with loved ones,
Of picnics on the beach or sitting in front of the TV with their favourite beverage of choice.
The last thing I'm sure most of them want is to be rammed into this hot and wet bus like sardines in a can as it is turning out to be a very,
Very wet day.
I can hear the thunder in the background.
Oh my,
What a beautiful wet day for me inside and sheltered from the onslaught of all this water that is falling from the sky.
I love to people watch and today is truly a treat for me.
Even though it is raining there is so much going on outside.
Days like these make me so thankful.
I am lucky and blessed to be working from home and I have no need to go out into the rain unless I choose to go out with my welly boots and splash about in some puddles.
Watching the rain is a great thing to do as it turns the mind off from overworking,
Overthinking and over worrying.
Can you imagine the scene now?
Rain,
Beautiful rain.
Stepping slightly back now and watching the raindrops stream down the window pane.
Seeing which ones can reach the bottom first.
It is almost like a race of the raindrops.
As I focus on the raindrops everything else is blurred out in the background.
All I see is raindrops in front of me and hear the beautiful musical rhythm of the raindrops hitting the glass.
Then rolling down to see others pooling on my windowsill.
Then ultimately falling onto the ground below.
Ready at some stage to be evaporated and go back up to the same clouds that are releasing them now.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away have yourself a great night's sleep.
I'm looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.
Good night.
