Hello beautiful souls,
This is June B and welcome to an amazing night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.
Today we will take another trip to my favourite coffee shop right after it has had a refurb.
To relax and enjoy the artistry of the modern day coffee shop.
So let's begin.
Get into your favourite sleeping position.
Make sure you're comfortable.
Close your eyes.
Relax your muscles.
And slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing.
Slowing down the heart rate.
And let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Last time.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Settle in now.
Get comfortable.
Let go of everything that happened today and let's relax together.
Let yourself focus on my voice.
If your mind wanders,
It's okay.
Bring it back to the sound of my voice.
Keep your breathing slow and steady.
Let's go on our journey together.
Here we are at my local coffee shop again.
A pleasure for sure.
I'm really excited to see how it will look now.
After this major upgrade.
So I know we are going to have a great time.
Enjoying the ambience and tucking into our favourite weekly spot together.
So to let all of you know,
I am determined to try something different today.
So let's see how it goes.
Wow,
Stepping in now.
How lovely.
You can still smell the fresh paint.
It looks so new and modern.
Very nice.
Brand new seats.
Charging points.
Definitely very good.
I'm looking at the board now and wondering this one fascinating question.
Now don't get me wrong.
I am a fan of modern technology.
Well as much as the next guy,
Right?
So my local shop has had this beautiful refurb and gotten some new seats minted.
Charging points,
Pucker.
Handy for the jet setters.
A lick of paint sweet as a nut as we say in the UK.
It all looks really fancy and I'm loving it.
Back to my question though.
Who thought that hanging a moving menu would be a good idea?
Now I loved the static menus.
They were so simple to read and always there.
Now someone in their infinite wisdom has decided to invent the moving menu.
So every minute the menu changes and you have to wait for it to come back to the original page again.
Okay,
Okay.
I'll give it a go.
We got this,
Right?
So here we are looking at this menu.
And as I said before,
I'm trying something different.
So today I'm going to give hot chocolate a try.
Vi-Vla-de-France,
Right?
So there are four different types of hot chocolate.
There is regular,
White,
Ruby and mint.
I can get it in small,
Medium and grande.
And who doesn't like a bit of grande,
Eh?
Then there is a paper cup to take away or a nice heavy china mug that always fits in your hand so beautifully while you take slow sips of this liquid delight.
Then there is a plethora of toppings just to make things interesting.
So we have cream,
Vegan cream.
I wonder what that tastes like.
And there are marshmallows,
Chocolate flakes,
Sprinkles that look like hundreds and thousands.
Those pretty little coloured balls you used to add to your kids ice cream cone to keep them entertained.
You know what I mean.
Then mint chocolate swirls and caramel pieces.
Let's not even talk about the shot of different syrups you can add.
This list seems to be endless.
Okay,
Now my choice.
I'm going to have a regular hot chocolate,
The size grande of course.
Then in a mug,
I want to save paper and I also love the feel of china.
Then some marshmallows and maybe a shot of salted caramel to top things off.
In reality,
I either have to walk about 10 miles to burn this little delight off my hips or go on a fast for a few days.
Anyway that's a choice for another day,
Right?
So with most of my order memorised,
Up to the counter I venture.
I feel okay.
There's no queue behind me.
No pressure.
So let's reconfirm my choice as I look up to do so.
Oh boy,
There we go.
The screen has changed again.
Okay,
I'll stand here for a minute until it changes back.
With a lovely smile from the barista,
Of course.
Ah,
It's back.
Right.
Okay.
I have a regular hot chocolate in size grande in a mug with marshmallows and a shot of oh boy.
The screen has moved again.
There's now a queue building up behind me of busy young people who have their order memorised or maybe even tattooed on their body somewhere,
The thought alone.
I think the barista feels my pain.
Okay,
I'll get out of the way and let some people do their thing.
Now the queue has gone down again and I'm back to the counter.
I look up because I've forgotten half of what I wanted by now.
So many different choices,
Right?
Do I want a regular chocolate or ruby?
Was it a medium or a grande?
For sure I'm hooked on a mug,
Not paper.
And was the topping cream or marshmallows?
And did I want a shot?
Oh dear.
As I approach the counter again with my cheery barista looking at me,
Hoping upon all hopes that I got it this time,
I fold.
Hello.
Hey,
Can I have a medium decaf latte with oat milk in a mug?
Thank you.
I know,
I know,
I gave up.
I'll have to try to memorise the menu for next time.
For now,
I'm happy getting my regular tipple and trying out one of these low soft seats that suck you in and make it really difficult to get out.
That's me for a while now.
Enjoying my liquid gold.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight.
And as you slowly drift away,
Have yourself a great night's sleep.
And looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series,
Bedtime Tales with JoonB.
Good night.
