Hello beautiful souls,
This is June Bee and welcome to an amazing night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June Bee.
Join me as we clean up the front room after a busy week and all the things we will discover on our journey to sleep.
So let's get into your favorite sleeping position,
Making sure you are comfortable.
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time,
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Settle in now,
Relax and get comfortable.
Listen to the sound of my voice,
If your mind wanders it's okay,
Bring it back to the sound of my voice.
Let go of everything that has happened today and let's go on our journey together.
Today we are cleaning up the front room after it seems like a super long week at work.
I have finished all the other cleaning up and the last thing left to do is to turn on the vacuum cleaner and give it a whiz,
Picking up all the ends of dust and bits that inevitably get left behind after just living life I suppose.
The vacuum cleaner has this tone that is likened to static between radio stations.
Monotonal,
Droning,
A sound that goes on and on with no ending sight.
Did you know that the sound of a vacuum cleaner is called white noise?
I didn't even realize that it had a name.
With the right type of noise and learning that different noises have colors associated with them,
You can create a calming environment that helps reduce stress and anxiety,
Increase focus and promote better sleep.
I did a little research and it has been very interesting learning about white noise and I'll share with you some interesting facts.
According to the World Health Organization,
Undisturbed sleep has been shown to be important for both health and quality of life.
It estimates that nearly 25% of the population suffers from disturbed sleep due to environmental noise.
Data shows that white noise significantly improves sleep based on objective measurements in subjects complaining of difficulty sleeping due to high levels of environmental noise.
This suggests that the application of white noise may be an effective tool in helping to improve sleep in those settings.
So,
What is white noise and are there any benefits?
White noise sounds like a radio station in limbo.
Somewhere between stations.
Hearing the same staticky sound no matter which frequency you tune into.
A monotonal droney sound that is best for light sleepers,
Aiding them to get back to sleep and if you wake up,
Get back to sleep again quickly.
White noise provides the most consistent background noise,
Best for marking other environmental sounds.
If you find that you wake up easily,
You can try white noise to help you stay asleep no matter what is happening in the room around you.
The same goes for putting babies and toddlers to bed.
How many times have you known a weary parent driving around at night to get their babies to sleep?
I hold my hand up because I have been one of those parents for sure and have spent many sleepless nights driving around praying that the gentle hum of the engine and the sweet rocking of the car will lull the little ones to sleep.
And do you know what?
It worked for us every single time.
Happy baby,
Happy life.
On another note,
White noise can also help you to write and read faster,
Retain more information,
Even focus better.
White noise is great for concentration and relaxation as well.
The monotonous constant noise of white noise can block out any distractions and provide an awesome,
Peaceful night's sleep.
So listening to this vacuum cleaner and the gentle rain in the background is a great way for me to relax as I'm doing the housework.
Getting into each nook and cranny and touching every corner and using the hose of the vacuum cleaner to dust some of the top of the curtains and behind the bookshelf is a great way to not only clear the space,
But also to help me feel fresh and ready to relax in this room when I get a minute.
Not sure when that will be as life is quite busy right now.
One thing for sure is that I am taking a few minutes of peace doing this housework.
I'm looking outside and watching the rain falling constantly.
The raindrops are bouncing heavily off the floor and straight back up to crash into more drops that are trying to race down and fall to the ground.
Smashing into each other is a great combustion of water and allows it to spread even further along the ground.
Almost forming a mist as the water drops smash into each other.
The constant rain is another form of white noise,
That monotonous tone of the dropping water.
Coupled with this noise of the vacuum cleaner going is really making me feel sleepy.
You know it makes me feel super ready to relax and looking forward to snuggling into bed with my gym jams for a great night's rest.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away,
Have yourself a great night's sleep.
And looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of bedtime tales with June B.
Good night.
