Hello beautiful souls.
This is June Bee and welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June Bee.
This is the most wonderful time of the year and a time to celebrate.
So let's get into your favourite sleeping position.
Make sure you're comfortable.
Close your eyes and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing.
Bring down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Last time.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe out.
It is really the most wonderful time of the year and I absolutely love it.
Today I'm going to tell you a tale of how a little girl found her Christmas joy.
So let's begin.
This little girl was feeling very alone.
Her parents had left her a while ago.
She wasn't even sure why and she was living in a group home.
She had this habit where she would sit by the window and look out on the street,
Hoping someone would come for her and take her home to be loved and cared for.
She remembered she had an auntie.
It had been such a long time ago since she saw her.
She could still remember the outline of her face vaguely and as the years passed,
Her memory of this auntie started to fade.
Was she imagining it?
Would her auntie ever come and take her home?
Had she been so bad that nobody wanted her?
Loads of thoughts ran through her mind as she sat by the window looking out at the changing seasons.
It was approaching the end of the year and was getting colder.
She could not even remember how many Christmases she had spent looking out of this window.
They all seemed to merge into one.
This year,
As she was getting older,
Her senses were starting to get more and more in tune with her surroundings.
As she looked out,
It was drawing closer and closer to Christmas.
She looked at the sky,
Which was white and had a frosty bite to it.
She could hear the sleigh bells ringing and the Christmas music playing from time to time.
Little Christmas songs and cute sights of snow and Santa were all around.
How she longed for a Christmas with family,
All sitting around the tree and opening presents on the big day.
Food and drinks that she had wished for for so long and more than anything,
The love and comfort of a family that she felt part of.
She watched as many cars pulled up to the home,
With family and friends coming to visit the other children inside.
She never got a visit.
That is why she was always by the window,
So she wouldn't feel out of place when others were celebrating with their family and loved ones.
As the time drew closer to the evening,
It was much colder than usual by her favourite window.
She left for a minute and got a blanket to wrap around her shoulders.
Then as she came back to the window to sit down,
In her usual spot,
She saw a car pull up.
Not that she hadn't seen many cars pull up before,
Although it was one she hadn't seen before.
She spent so much time at the window,
She knew all the usual vehicles that visited this home.
Loads had come and gone already.
This one was new.
She watched as the car door opened and some people got out.
They were all wrapped up and she couldn't see their faces.
It was so cold outside,
Minus degrees to be precise.
Then she heard a light tap on the door.
When she turned around and said,
Hello,
Come in,
The door slowly opened and at once she recognised that face that had been in her thoughts and dreams for so many years.
It was her auntie.
She said,
Hello my darling and opened her arms out wide.
The girl ran over there and nestled herself in these arms of love and comfort.
As she looked up,
Her auntie explained to her that she had been looking for her for years,
And finally found out where she was.
Her auntie sat down and scooped the little girl up onto her lap.
She then looked deep into her eyes and said,
We have a special room for you.
Would you like to come home and live with us?
There were tears of joy and surrender.
She couldn't even get the words out.
She just kept nodding and nodding and eventually the words yes came out.
She nestled her head into the loving arms of her auntie and for the first time in so many years felt the true magic of Christmas.
This was all she had ever dreamed of and wanted.
What an amazing time of the year.
Actually the most wonderful time of the year.
As she spent her first Christmas with the family,
Tearing open the gifts and looking at the full spread of food and drink on the dinner table,
She thought,
This is everything I have always dreamed of.
A Christmas tale.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away,
Have yourself a great night's sleep and looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.
Goodnight.
