What a glorious and welcome surprise! The title and brief description caught my interest, but the opening few minutes frankly left me a little cold. (That is to say, I reached certain assumptions about the piece based on just a few opening notes.)
But! Rather than stopping the recording, I decided to follow the composer/performer’s instruction/suggestion to “relax and enjoy the ride.” And it IS a ride: one that I truly enjoyed, with all its twists and turns and returns. I liked some individual parts of the trip more than others, as noted, but I loved the journey as a whole and am eager to take it again (along with all the artist-driver’s “rides”).
SERVING SUGGESTION: I personally would not use this for the kind of meditation I usually do, because it’s too”interesting” to remain in the background. But I am happy to approach this more like a piece of classical, experimental, or jazz music—it deserves that degree of attention.
On the other hand, I tried drawing/making visual art while listening to it, and it was fantastic for that purpose—I took inspiration from the movement of the music and tried to respond to it in the image I was working on. I credit the composition and its composer with even giving me the idea to try that, since it’s not something I usually do.
