In this sound meditation we introduce different sounds to evoke a calm, yet focused meditation. The vibration of the sounds are designed to give you the backdrop to silently repeat a mantra, or simply become lost in the highly soothing sounds. Note: This practice is guided for a short period at the beginning and end.

Welcome to the sound meditation practice.

In this practice we'll be using sounds to create a calm,

Soothing,

Meditative state.

So all you have to do is sit back,

Relax,

And allow the sounds to come to you.

And whatever you're doing in the present moment is what you're supposed to be doing.

There's no right or wrong,

No before or after,

Just be in the present state of mind.

So just sit back,

Relax,

Focus on your breath and the sounds.

Music music music music music music music You You You You You You You You Take a nice easy breath in easy breath out Two more times and out through your nose out through your mouth And you know out through your mouth In your own time whenever you're ready You can slowly blink your eyes open And that is our sound meditation for today,

Extraordinary. Of all the music based recordings on the IT app and all the “soundbaths” I have tried both here and offline, I’ve never really gotten what I hoped for from one until now. It’s not the specific music/sounds employed here that I find so inspiring (with all due respect to the composer) but the way they are presented—with an open ended invitation to explore in any way the listener (/co-creator) wants. Just on first listen I sensed countless possibilities in addition to the obvious one of sitting still or lying down and simply listening. I briefly played with adding movement and drawing (visual art of any kind might work), and I can’t wait to explore even more. Great for (some) beginners to meditation, although if you are the mind of person who needs or wants structure and guidance when you are learning something new, you won’t much of that here. My advice in that case would be to start with more traditional techniques but then stop back by and give this one a try if and when you feel more comfortable with creative alternatives.
